Elk lives in the forests of the Northern Hemisphere. Sometimes it can be seen in the forest-steppe. In Europe, moose live in Central Russia, in the north of Ukraine, in the Czech Republic and Poland, a lot of them in Belarus and in Scandinavia. These animals also live in Canada, the northeastern United States and Alaska. From time immemorial, they attract the attention of people. The image of an elk is found even on the walls of ancient caves. Sukhaty - that’s the name of the people. Huge horns, noble posture, calm tread of an animal - all this attracts modern artists. We will also try to figure out how to draw a moose. It seems complicated only at first glance.
Animal features
Before drawing a moose, step by step we will consider its expressive appearance. The male moose is larger than the female. Its height can reach 2.4 meters, and the body length is usually about three meters. A short neck, a high withers, and long legs are characteristic features of a puffer. By the way, he owes his nickname to the fact that the horns resemble a plow. Anyone who decides to learn how to draw an elk should pay special attention to the horns. Other characteristic features of the animal: hunchbacked muzzle, massive upper lip, large and ears set apart.
Getting to work. How to draw a moose with a pencil?
1. First, make a markup with a simple pencil. Do not press the tool too hard, because all the auxiliary lines we have to remove. We draw three approximately identical squares - this will be the body and neck. The head is almost triangular, it rises slightly above the square of the neck.
2. Give the body of the sokhaty a rounded shape. We detail the head. Mark the legs - they are approximately equal in length to the height of the body.
3. We portray massive horns. They go far beyond the neckline. Draw the face: eye, ears. On the neck of the animal we draw a thick hanging coat.
4. How to draw a moose accurately? To do this, we agreed not to put too much pressure on the pencil, so that it was not difficult to remove the marking lines with an eraser. Carefully remove them and proceed to applying the shadows. We put the deepest ones on the distant legs, the bottom of the neck, and horns. We hide the moose’s hooves in the grass.
What else can you do the drawing?
You can achieve a very interesting effect if you make the same drawing not with a simple pencil, but with charcoal, sanguine, black gel paste. To do this, you will have to be even more careful when applying the markup so that there are no traces of the pencil in the picture at all.
