The drug "Genferon": candles

Surely, any mother faced colds with infants. If treatment is not started on time, a common cold can develop into a serious illness. For this purpose, many pediatricians recommend treatment with Genferon. These suppositories are intended for rectal use. Do not be afraid of this form of medicine, since the bulk of the medication is absorbed in the small intestine, and thus the drug simply reaches the “right place” faster and starts to act quickly.

Structure

The active ingredient of the drug are human interferon 2a-alpha, anestezin and taurine, as auxiliary substances - glycerides, dextran, citric acid, purified water, tween, sodium citrate and polyethylene oxide.

Pharmacology

The drug "Genferon" (suppositories) have antibacterial and antiviral effects on the patient's body, affect immunity both in general and locally. Interferon acts as an immunomodulator, activates white blood cells (they absorb viral cells) and extinguishes inflammatory foci. In addition, the drug "Genferon" (suppositories) is prescribed to patients for the treatment of herpes, HPV, and the elimination of bacteria such as mycoplasma, chlamydia, Trichomonas, as well as fungi.

It should be noted that the drug is available in the form of candles with different dosages. For adults, the drug Genferon is intended for 500,000, for the smallest - at a dose of 125,000 IU. In addition, there is a dose of 250,000 IU.

In young children, this medicine is used as a treatment for acute respiratory viral infections and many other infections.

The instructions indicate the following indications for use:

- genital herpes;

- balanoposthitis;

- chlamydia;

- balanitis;

- ureaplasmosis;

- urethritis;

- mycoplasmosis;

- prostatitis;

- vaginal candidiasis (in recurrent form);

- adnexitis;

- gardnerellosis;

- bartholinitis;

- trichomoniasis;

- vulvovaginitis;

- human papillomavirus infection ;

- cervicitis;

- vaginosis in bacterial form;

- cervical erosion.

It should be noted that the drug “Genferon” (suppository) enhances the effect while taking it with vitamins C and E.

The dosage of the drug should be prescribed by the attending physician, but the following recommendations are given in the instructions. In inflammatory and infectious diseases of the urinary system in women, 1 suppository is used vaginally (the dose depends on the severity of the disease) - 2 times a day (with an interval of 12 hours) for 10 days. If the forms of the disease are protracted, then 1 candle every other day, and the duration of treatment can reach 3 months. In men, the treatment regimen is the same, and suppositories are used rectally.

The drug has contraindications. It should not be used by persons who do not tolerate human interferon or other components that make up this drug. It is also worth refraining from candle treatment for exacerbation of diseases of an autoimmune nature and for allergic reactions.

Pregnant for up to 12 weeks and breastfeeding, the drug is also prohibited. Assign it only in cases where the possible risk is less than the potential benefit.

Genferon medicine may cause the following side effects:

- skin rashes, itching, allergies;

- fever and chills;

- loss of appetite and fatigue;

- pain in the muscles, joints;

- headaches;

- increased sweating;

- thrombocytopenia and leukopenia.

All these side effects are most often manifested when using the drug in doses exceeding 100,000,000 IU per day.
