But not everything was so simple. Cheese production technology was already known. However, a dispute suddenly erupted. It was initiated by the Kazan milk processor VAMIN Tatarstan. The company stated that it is it that is the owner of the legal rights to the trademark. Omsk processed cheese plant, in turn, claimed its rights to cheese and offered Tatarstan to conclude a license agreement. The same one sent a complaint to the FAS Russia demanding that Omsk citizens be held accountable for violating the law on protection of competition. There it was decided not to give Omsk exclusive rights. Omsk processed cheese factory, of course, did not agree with this. After all, the recipe and product name were developed in 1969 here. The product manufactured in Tatarstan, according to the plant’s management, differs from the Omsk Omichka technology of production and recipe.

In 2009, the Moscow Arbitration Court upheld the decision to recognize the actions of the Omsk processed cheese factory related to the registration of a trademark as unfair competition. A fine of one hundred thousand rubles was imposed on the manufacturer.

Nevertheless, the Omsk plant continued to defend its rights. As a result, in 2010 he was issued a certificate for the Omichka trademark, valid until 2018.
