Quite often in clinical practice, hyperplasia (or adenoma) of the prostate is recorded. In men, this pathology can occur when the following factors act:

• age-related changes in the body. So, the symptoms of this disease are rarely recorded among representatives of the stronger sex, who have not yet reached the age of forty, but after 60 years, almost half of them have certain signs of prostate adenoma ;

• hereditary predisposition. Prostate adenoma in men, in the family of which such lesions are traced, occurs more often;

• consider nationality as a risk factor. Asians get sick less often than white and black men.

Prostate adenoma in men is characterized by the following clinical manifestations:

• weak flow of urine;

• urination difficult, frequent;

• breaks during urination;

• nocturia;

• incomplete emptying of the bladder;

• hematuria is also observed;

• the development of infectious processes in the genitourinary tract, especially for pyelonephritis and prostatitis;

• the appearance of calculi in the bladder (this is due to a violation of the outflow of urine);

• diverticula or rupture of the bladder arising from chronic stretching of the walls of this organ;

• renal failure;

• Ischuria and chronic urinary retention, accompanied by intense pain and bursting in the lower abdomen. I must say that pathological symptoms intensify after taking spicy foods or alcohol, diuretics, as well as with the development of allergies.

Prostate adenoma in men does not always occur with severe clinical symptoms. Complaints that force one to seek medical help increase as the prostate gland enlarges.

If any urination disorders occur, you should consult a doctor to diagnose and rule out more complex prostate pathologies, such as cancer.

Prostate Adenoma: Diagnosis

To identify this pathology, the following examination methods are used:

• a thorough history taking;

• digital rectal examination;

• transrectal ultrasound;

• urodynamic examination and analysis of urine;

• cystoscopy;

• CT scan.

With prostate adenoma, additional examinations can be prescribed:

• a blood test in which a specific antigen is detected;

• uroflowmetry;

• determination of the amount of residual urine;

• biopsy - performed under local anesthesia using a special needle. With this examination, prostate tissues are taken, which are then sent for histological examination, which helps to exclude the cancer process in the prostate gland and determine the tactics of further treatment.
