Tingling in fingers. Causes.

Such unpleasant sensations as tingling in the fingers, numbness, "goosebumps" periodically occur in each of us. This condition is most often associated with temporary compression of the nerve, for example, with prolonged exposure to an uncomfortable position. Hands become numb when they are in a bent or raised state, if you hold onto the handrail for a long time in transport, when wearing tight clothing, and when working on a computer. One has only to change the position, as the numbness and tingling in the fingers disappears.

Another thing is if unpleasant symptoms appear more and more often. In this case, you must go to the hospital for an examination, since such signs indicate the development of neurological diseases.

Goosebumps and tingling in the fingers occur when nerves are compressed or irritated in various parts of the body.

If a nerve is infringed in the cervical spine, then radicular syndrome develops, in which patients complain of numbness and tingling in the hands. There are several reasons for the appearance of the syndrome - cervical osteochondrosis, spinal hernia, tumors, lateral displacement of the vertebrae, spondylarthrosis, infectious lesions (tuberculosis, osteomyelitis)

Compression of the ulnar nerve leads to the emergence of a cubital syndrome, the signs of which are pain, numbness, weakness in the hands, tingling in the fingers, namely in the little finger and nameless. This syndrome develops from the often repeated bending of the arm at the elbow, with emphasis on the inside of the elbows, improper fixation of the arms when working on the computer, prolonged exposure of the arm in a bent position, for example, in a dream. Often the appearance of the syndrome is due to the specifics of the profession, in which there is an excessive effect on the ulnar nerve. Another reason for the development of cubital syndrome may be a thickened nerve - in this case, the canal walls are pressed on it. I must say that the size of the channel is such that the nerve barely fits between the bone and ligament, and the slightest external influence can lead to disruption of its work. At first, unpleasant sensations occur only with prolonged exposure to the ulnar nerve, but with the development of the disease, these signs become more pronounced and are constantly present. Refusal of treatment leads to atrophy of the muscles of the arm.

Another reason that causes tingling in the limbs is tunnel syndrome. Compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel leads to its development. This is most often associated with work in which you have to constantly make the same movements with your hands. The work of packers, pianists, those whose activities are related to working on a computer. Other factors leading to tunnel syndrome: arthritis of the hands, swelling of the hands with fluid retention in the body, for example, during pregnancy, swelling, diabetes mellitus, thyroid dysfunction, wrist injuries. The disease is initially mild and does not cause concern, but gradually the pain and tingling in the fingers and palms become more noticeable. Lack of treatment leads to atrophy of the muscles of the thumb.

Numbness and tingling in the fingers can occur with compression of the nerve roots and trunks in the brachial plexus - ladder syndrome. Patients complain of pain in the shoulder and arm, weakness, numbness and tingling in the hand, especially in the little finger and ring finger, sometimes chilliness in the limb. When tilting the head, these sensations intensify. The cause of the syndrome is cervical osteochondrosis, in which irritation of the nerve roots causing reflex muscle spasms occurs. As a result of muscle spasm, the subclavian artery and brachial plexus are compressed.

Numbness and tingling of the hands can be associated with stroke, multiple sclerosis, infectious and heart diseases, lack of vitamins, malnutrition, and injuries.

In any case, to make the correct diagnosis, you should consult a doctor.
