Dishes from offal, which include the pork heart, recipes for which will be discussed in this article, as a rule, are deprived of attention when drawing up the menu. But in vain! The content of vitamins and other useful substances in them is not inferior to the number of similar components in other products we use more often.
No wonder the ancient healers used meat offal as a remedy for many diseases, prescribing the use of an animal organ to cure a similar one in humans. For example, a person with heart disease was recommended to cook a pig heart. Of course, now the ancient methods of treatment are not taken seriously. But, despite this, it is recommended to use a pork heart - its benefits to the human body are undeniable. Offal contains many vitamins, for example, vitamins A and group B, as well as a lot of different minerals, for example, the heart is the supplier of a large amount of iron. Low in calories, offal, and in particular the heart, are considered diet foods.
Speaking about how to cook a pork heart, the recipes you can recall are very different. It is used both for the preparation of various appetizers and salads, as well as hot dishes. Often, a pork heart is used for fillings of pies, pies and pancakes. In hot form, it is often used stewed, but sometimes there are dishes of fried offal. Most often, when preparing a product such as pork heart, recipes require preliminary cooking. Recommended time is 2 hours. You can cook the heart in ordinary water, or you can season it to your taste, which, in addition to softness, will add flavor to the final product.
So, pork heart: cooking recipes
For example, a very interesting dish, which can be used both as a salad and as a main dish, complementing it with a side dish in the form of mashed potatoes, etc. To prepare it, you need 3-4 pieces (depending on size) of the heart, 1 onion, mayonnaise, vinegar, herbs, salt, spices. As you can see, quite a bit and inexpensive. The heart, as mentioned above, must be boiled, for this recipe - in salt water. Cut it into strips. Next, pickle the onions. To do this, prepare a marinade of vinegar and water: 2-3 tbsp. l 100 g. Pour finely chopped onions with cooked marinade and leave for 30 minutes. After the specified time, wash the pickled onions under running water and let the water drain. In a large bowl, add the heart, onion, herbs (dill and cilantro or parsley), mayonnaise. All mix well. That's all! It turned out really tasty and unusual dish, which you and your guests will definitely enjoy!

An example of one of the many hot dishes that can be prepared is a pork heart fried with mushrooms. For its preparation, any mushrooms are suitable. The heart, as in the previous recipe, must be pre-cooked. Salt can be added both to water during cooking, and after it. Depending on the type of mushrooms chosen, they may also need to be pre-cooked. Mushrooms and oyster mushrooms do not need it, and the remaining mushrooms are best cooked for about 15 minutes.
We cut all prepared ingredients into cubes: heart (1 piece), mushrooms (200 grams), tomato (1 piece). Finely chop the onion, chop the greens coarsely (basil, parsley). The basic cooking process is simple and takes a minimum of time. First, fry the onion a little. Add the heart, salt and stir, fry over low heat for about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and herbs, mix, fry for another 3 minutes. Next, put the mushrooms, simmer another 5-7 minutes, season 2-3 tbsp. l sour cream, mix. Stew for a short time, about 1 minute. Add salt to taste. Done! If desired, for a change, you can add garlic in the cooking process. But this is not for everybody. And without that, a delicious dish will become more spicy.
As already mentioned, a lot of dishes can be prepared from a pig’s heart, which can become suitable for a festive table, and just for dinner. All of them will become a real decoration of your menu, adding variety to it. The above recipes are proof of this.
