Apple liqueur is a rather sweet, but not sugary cocktail containing a small fraction of alcohol. This delicious alcoholic drink can be used to make drinks, eat with ice cream or fruit. However, not all apple varieties are suitable for preparing a delicious and fragrant homemade apple liqueur. Granny Smith is considered the most suitable grade.
Without exception, all liquors are alcoholic beverages, albeit with a low alcohol content. The main difference between such cocktails is their incredible spicy aroma, bright rich taste and softness. The preparation of this drink allows you to interpret modern cuisine in your own way. In order to get apple liquor, ripe fruits, herbal tinctures, alcohol base, and in some cases even moonshine are used. However, there are recipes for making a soft drink that can be consumed not only by adults, but also by children. In most cases, this liquor is often used in the preparation of flour dessert products.
Origin history
The production of apple liquor began at the time of alchemists and healers. They believed that this drink heals a person and gives him strength. Most often, an apple drink was consumed by warriors, setting off to conquer new lands and territories. Also, the drink was actively used by monks and was considered the most useful and clean.
It is known that apples are rich in vitamins and carry a lot of useful properties. Therefore, the preparation of liquor has always been and remains in demand.
The beneficial qualities of apple liquor include:
- beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system;
- improvement of the gastrointestinal tract;
- prevention of kidney and liver disease;
- high in vitamins;
- calcium and iron, which are necessary for the smooth functioning of our body.
In addition to using apple liqueur to make cocktails, some housewives found other uses for it. Now this product is actively added to sweet preservation, pastries and individual dishes.
Making a fruit drink
In order to get apple liquor at home, you do not need a lot of strength and ingredients. The only thing to consider is careful adherence to the correct preparation and storage formula.
The choice of apple varieties also plays an important role. Many experts do not recommend the use of solid and green fruits, as this affects the taste of the final product. It is best to opt for soft, juicy and ripe fruits.
Apple Liqueur Recipe
To get this product at home, you will need:
- large and ripe apples - 5-6 pieces;
- granulated sugar - 650 grams;
- a small lemon or lime;
- diluted alcohol or other strong drink, such as vodka.
At the very beginning of cooking, you need to wash the apples and remove the core, cutting the fruit into two halves. Then the apples are rubbed on a coarse grater and transferred to glass jars. Lemon or lime juice is squeezed into the resulting mass and mixed thoroughly.
Prepared alcohol is poured into grated apples, and the container is removed in a dark place for 3-4 weeks. After the expiration of this period, the resulting mass is thoroughly mixed and squeezed into a separate bowl. If desired, instead of alcoholic drinks, you can use boiled water - such a liquor will be non-alcoholic. The method of preparing non-alcoholic apple liquor is exactly the same as cooking a product with an alcohol content. The only thing you need is to add a little soda and vanilla sugar to give the final drink a spicy smell and a mild taste.
Syrup preparation
After your apples are infused and absorb alcohol, they must be boiled until a sweet and viscous syrup is obtained.
The remaining liquid is squeezed out of the apple puree, granulated sugar is added to it, and everything is transferred to a large saucepan. Next, bring the liquid to a boil and cook for 6-7 minutes. If the squeezed out liquid is not enough, then you can add diluted apple juice.
After the syrup has cooled, it must be mixed with apple tincture and filtered through a filter. You can buy a filter in a store or make it yourself using gauze. The resulting mass is poured into glass bottles and left to infuse for a week.
Using Apple Liqueur
A week after the preparation of the drink, the resulting liquid can be used both for making cocktails and for baking. It is worth noting that sweet pastries based on such liquor are incredibly soft, juicy and have a pleasant apple flavor.
Homemade apple liqueur can also be used for conservation. Often, housewives cover strawberry, raspberry and pear jam based on alcoholic apple liquor.
