Hidden infections in men

There are diseases that are almost asymptomatic without causing any complaints to the patient for a certain time. They are transmitted primarily through sexual contact and are called "latent infections." Diagnosing these diseases is quite problematic, since the patient may not go to the doctor for a rather long time. Today, about 30 types of infections of this kind are known, including mycoplasmosis, candidiasis, syphilis, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, ureaplasmosis, cytomegalovirus, etc.

These diseases live in the cells of the genital organs, and can also occur on the surface of their membranes. Hidden infections in men most often cause prostatitis, urethritis (inflammation of the urethra), epidymitis (epididymis), vesiculitis (seminal vesicles). Subsequently, these unpleasant diseases can cause more serious sexual disorders, as well as infertility. Some latent infections provoke inflammation of the mucous membranes of the eyes, colon and joints (polyarthritis). A prolonged course of diseases caused by mycoplasmas, chlamydia, ureaplasmas, etc., is accompanied by damage to tissues and cells of the genital and other organs of the human body with the formation of cicatricial or other changes. At the same time, their functional state is disrupted, which, of course, most negatively affects human health. In addition, a sick person is a dangerous source of infection for those around him who are in close contact with him.

Symptoms and consequences

Hidden infections for a long time may not manifest themselves in any way until serious complications arise. However, men who have this kind of disease are more likely to suffer from the following ailments: inflammation of the urethra, foreskin, prostate and genital glands, penis, testicles and vas deferens, impotence. In addition, there may be signs such as itching in the genital area, rapid urination, burning, unpleasant odor, discharge, redness of the mucous membrane, swollen lymph nodes, pimples in the groin. If you find the above symptoms, you should immediately contact a dermatovenerologist. After changing your sexual partner, it is recommended to undergo an examination and take tests for hidden infections.

Remedies

A conventional condom can protect against hidden infections. If sexual intercourse was unprotected, then in the first few hours you should use an antiseptic solution to treat the urethra and inguinal region. This procedure will prevent the spread of pathogens throughout the body.

Treatment

Most often, latent infections are completely cured without causing further relapses. The patient is prescribed a course of antibiotics, as well as treatment of the genitals with an antiseptic. Serious viral infections such as hepatitis, HIV accompany a person all his life. Drug treatment can for some time extend the life of the patient and reduce the negative manifestations of the disease.

Preparing for the test

This procedure requires the observance of important rules. If urine must be taken to the laboratory to diagnose the disease, then it should be exclusively morning. A special sterile container for collecting analysis is sold at the pharmacy. It is highly recommended not to use antibacterial soap for washing genitals. Two hours before the test (smear, culture, PCR) should not be urinated. It is forbidden to take antibiotics and uroseptics, to use disinfectant external solutions. The day before the test is not recommended to engage in sexual intimacy.
