The drug "Sulfacyl sodium bufus" is available in the form of eye drops. The concentration of the active substance in it is 20%. This medication is supplied in the form of 20-percent eye drops in one dropper and one and a half milliliter droppers, as well as in one and a half milliliter polymer dropper tubes, one and a half milliliters packaged in cardboard boxes with a capacity of one to one hundred syringe tubes.

pharmachologic effect
This is a sulfanilamide antimicrobial agent with a bacteriostatic effect. The action of the drug "Sulfacyl sodium" is due to the inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, competitive antagonism to PABA and the introduction of violations in the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate acid.
The drug is active against Escherichia, shigella, cholera vibrio, clostridia, bacilli, corynebacteria, yersinia, chlamydia, actinomycetes and toxoplasma.
The medicine "Sulfacil Sodium Albucidum" acts mainly locally, but through the damaged conjunctiva, a certain amount of the drug can also be absorbed into the systemic circulation.
Indications for use
This drug is used for various infectious and inflammatory eye diseases, such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, purulent corneal ulcer, gonorrhea infection of the eye. The drug is also used to prevent newborn blenorrhea.
Contraindication for the use of this medication is hypersensitivity to some of its components.
The drug is used to treat adults in this way: it is instilled in two to three drops from a tube-dropper every four to five hours in the conjunctival sacs of the affected eyes.
For the prevention of blenorrhea, newborns should receive two drops immediately after birth, two hours later - two more.
Ointment for the eyelid is laid three to four times a day.
A side effect is local irritation, which is manifested by itching, swelling and redness of the eyelids. In the event of the appearance of such symptoms, the dose of the drug is recommended to be reduced to safe.
Special recommendations
1) If the patient uses soft contact lenses, they must be removed before using the medicine, and can be worn again no earlier than fifteen to twenty minutes after instillation.
2) It is forbidden to use this drug at the same time as topical medicinal substances containing silver salts.
3) Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to sulfanilurea derivatives, such as glibenclamide, thiazide diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide or furosemide, may give the same reactions to the drug "Sulfacyl sodium."
Before you start instilling eye drops, you need to hold the dropper bottle in the palm of your hand in order to warm it to body temperature. After the bottle is opened, the medicine can be used for four weeks, after which the bottle with it will need to be replaced with a new one. After use, the drug bottle must be tightly screwed and stored in a place protected from direct sunlight at a temperature of 8-15 degrees Celsius.
