Sotnikov, a brief summary of which will be described below, is a military drama, a drama about the difficult conditions of the Second World War and betrayal, a drama about the persistence of the Russian character and false friendship.
Vasil Bykov "Sotnikov": a summary of the work.
The two main characters around whom the story is built are Rybak and, accordingly, Sotnikov himself. One winter night they were entrusted with the task: to get some food for the partisan detachment, which was in the forest. The road ahead was difficult - there were only Germans around. The occupied territories were constantly guarded, and local residents were reluctant to make contact with the partisans. Sotnikov, a brief summary of the story of the same name will allow us to convey the main plot, he was seriously ill and could hardly keep up with his comrade, but since there was no one else to send to the assignment, he went. Having reached the nearest village, guests looked into the headman's house. Without fear and risk, the fisherman immediately abruptly attacked the elderly man, reproaching him for serving the Germans. Then they took a sheep and went on with their prey. But as soon as they reached the road, they heard the noise of approaching wheels. The fisherman quickly ran, and Sotnikov told him to leave him. He left, but soon returned for a sick comrade and dragged him to the nearest village. There they ended up in the house of Demchikha, who had not evil and not cheerfully received them, cured Sotnikov, fed and hid them from the Germans. Later, policemen searched for vodka in the poor woman’s house, but their searches did not end in success. And then suddenly they heard a cough from the attic. Not believing the mistress of the house, they climbed upstairs. There they found Sotnikov and Rybak. Having tied them, as well as Demchikha, they were taken to the local police. The original work and a brief summary (Sotnikov - the main character of the story) should convey the main idea of the work - the preservation of moral principles in difficult conditions of war.

Already at the first interrogation, the whole essence of the heroes manifested itself: Sotnikov immediately made it clear to the investigator that the Germans would not wait for any information from him, that he would remain silent like a real partisan, while Rybak behaved quite the opposite: he was flexible and obedient, for which he received an offer to become a local police officer. The next day, Rybak publicly agreed to serve Germany with everyone. When Sotnikov was led to be shot, it was Rybak who helped him climb the bench. Sotnikov symbolically throws him several times: “Bastard!” But the same Rybak also knocks out support from under the hero’s feet ...
Sotnikov, a summary of the eponymous story personifies all the horrors and nightmares of the war, was hanged in the square. After that, the fisherman realizes that there is no turning back, that it is no longer possible to escape after elimination, to return home, will no longer succeed in his squad!
The story of "Sotnikov", the brief content of which should inspire everyone to read the original, is written simply and clearly. The work shows how, in war conditions, people can dodge and bend for their own lives, and how others can give this life for their homeland.
