Ratmir with a ceremony of fighters and daughter Nastya on horseback ride through the forest. A teenager named Evpatiy joins their company. Suddenly the enemy will attack them and Ratmir will be taken prisoner, killing his entire squad. Nastya manages to ride away, and Evpatiy remains unconscious on the battlefield.
13 years have passed. Kolovrat married Nastya, and she bore him two children - Ivan and Zhdan. After the events in the forest, the warrior began amnesia - every morning the spouse tells him about who he is and what he does. He serves the prince as a foreman. Soon the bad news came - the Horde people were noticed at the approaches to Ryazan. The ruler understands that time needs to be delayed and sends ambassadors to Batu’s headquarters - his son Fedor, Kolovrat with his soldiers and a merchant. While they will reconnoiter the situation, troops from other cities will approach Ryazan.
But the khan is not eager to communicate and orders everyone to kneel before him. Fedor refuses to bow and the battle begins. The prince is being killed, but Evpatiy manages to escape with Ratmir, who has been languishing in captivity all these years. They rush home, but instead of Ryazan they see the ashes. The Horde killed the prince and destroyed almost the entire population. The wife and children of Kolovrat died in the fire. A warrior asks for help from other princes. But they are afraid to incur the wrath of the khan. The tenman collects the survivors and rushes in pursuit of the khan's army.
By cunning they make all enemies tremble with fear. Russian soldiers come to the rescue even forest animals. The bear helps Kolovrat cope with the enemies that lured him into a trap. Khan stops the panic among his warriors and prepares to attack. Evpatiy understands that they cannot survive in this battle and manages to send all the Ryazan children along the river. After the attack, only Kolovrat remains alive. In his hands is a protective letter from Batu himself. No one can harm him. Severely wounded, he goes to the khan and throws paper under his feet. When he kneels on one knee to lift her, the Russian warrior says that he achieved what he wanted - Batu is on his knees in front of him. He dies not broken, and the khan orders to bury him with all the honors worthy of a great warrior.
