What is a vaccine preparation?
Nobivak Triquet Trio is a live vaccine. It contains neutralized strains of viruses that have completely lost their pathogenicity, but when ingested, they can cause the formation of antibodies and the formation of immunity. If the pet is already sick, then the introduction of the vaccine will not help, but can only harm and lead to exacerbation of symptoms. This drug is not for treatment, but for prevention, and it can only be administered to healthy cats.
This vaccine preparation consists of attenuated strains of three types of viruses:
- feline calicivirosis (strain F9);
- rhinotracheitis (strain G2620);
- panleukopenia (Bristol strain).
The vaccine looks like a pale pink porous mass, packaged in bottles. The solvent "Nobivak Diluent" is attached to it. It is a clear, colorless liquid. Each package contains 10 bottles with a vaccine and the same with solvents. One bottle with the drug for cats "Nobivak Triquet Trio" contains one dose necessary for vaccination.
How does the vaccine work?
The drug is administered to cats twice in one course of vaccination. One injection is not enough to form a stable immunity. It is necessary to make a second injection. 10 days after the repeated injection, antibodies against viruses begin to form in the animal's body and immunity is formed. Protection against infections continues for the following period of time:
- from calicivirus and rhinotracheitis - 1 year;
- from panleukopenia - 3 years.
After 1 year, you must repeat the introduction of the drug "Nobivak Triquet Trio." The instruction says that if you do not revaccinate, then the animal can become infected. However, within 3 years after the last injection, calicivirus and rhinotracheitis will occur with erased symptoms.
Contraindications and unwanted effects
There are situations where the administration of the Nobivac Tricat Trio vaccine should be delayed. Animals cannot be vaccinated in the following cases:
- during pregnancy and feeding offspring;
- during illness, helminthic invasion and with weakening of the body;
- when the kitten is less than 8-10 weeks old and with teething.
The drug practically does not cause side effects. No cases of calicivirosis, rhinotracheitis and plague due to the introduction of a live vaccine were noted. Some cats had a slight swelling at the injection site and the temperature slightly increased after the injection of the Nobivak Triquet Trio. The following algorithm must be observed during vaccination:
- Solvent is collected in a sterile syringe.
- Then the liquid is introduced into the bottle with the drug for vaccination.
- Shake the vial, it is important to achieve complete dissolution of the mass.
- The injection site is wiped with an alcohol solution.
- The finished solution is administered subcutaneously.
It is not recommended to carry out other vaccinations on the same day as the Nobivak Triquet Trio. The instruction allows the simultaneous use of this vaccine only Nobivac Rabies vaccine (against rabies). However, drug solutions cannot be mixed in the same syringe.
