Lenten desserts

On the eve of the great Orthodox holiday - Easter - many Christians adhere to special rules in cooking and eating. The Orthodox Church forbids eating animal products: it is meat, milk, eggs, fish (it should be noted that fish is allowed on some days) and all derivatives of these products. Thus, the cleansing of the human body and preparation for the sacrament of communion take place.

Despite the fact that much can not be eaten, sometimes you still want sweets. In this article I want to draw readers' attention to the fact that there are a lot of recipes, following which you can cook lean desserts, tastes that are not inferior to desserts from dairy products and eggs.

There are a lot of recipes, so consider the most interesting of them and the most delicious.

1) Jelly from oranges. For this dessert, we need 4 juicy oranges, one pack of gelatin (when buying, make sure that the expiration date is not expired, otherwise jelly will not work), one lemon, half a glass of granulated sugar, half a glass of boiled warm water. First you need to dissolve sugar and gelatin in warm water. Peel oranges and lemon, finely chop two oranges, squeeze juice from the rest. Chop the lemon too.

Mix citruses with dissolved gelatin and pour into molds; if there are no molds, you can simply pour them into glasses so that the jelly fills the glass by ΒΎ. Put the forms in the refrigerator to freeze the jelly. After everything hardens, remove the molds, dip them in warm water for a couple of seconds (so that the jelly does not stick to the walls) and knock it down on a plate. You can decorate the finished dessert with fruit slices, berries, a leaf of mint, in general, anything.

Lenten desserts can be made from any fruit. For example, you can also experiment with this fruit jelly recipe . For example, canned pineapples can be used instead of oranges, a mixture of fruits can be included in dessert. Kiwi, pineapple and strawberry will look good - a beautiful contrast will turn out, the taste is also quite unusual.

It should be noted that desserts for fasting are very relevant, as a rule, they are prepared from fresh fruits or dried fruits.

Surely many do not imagine that cakes can be lean. But, believe me, lean desserts can be very tasty. Consider one of these recipes.

2) Lean honey-banana cake. To prepare this cake we need:

  • an incomplete glass of granulated sugar;
  • one ripe banana;
  • one and a half glasses of tea leaves;
  • 40 grams of honey;
  • two glasses of flour;
  • some vegetable oil;
  • soda and salt.

For the filling, we need one orange and 300 grams of dried apricots.

Stir sugar, tea leaves, banana, honey, vegetable oil, flour and salt in a container for the dough. This can be done using a blender. So the dough is ready. Spread the dough on the surface of the mold and bake in the oven until cooked. Many lean desserts can be prepared based on such a test.

For the filling, dried apricots need to be boiled so that the peel becomes softer. Peel the orange, separate the slices from the film (so as not to bitter). Finely chop the zest. Dried apricots, peeled slices and chopped zest with a blender to a puree state.

The cooled cake is divided into two parts. Brush with orange filling, top decorate with nuts, kiwi slices for color contrast. Lenten cake is ready. You can safely serve it for tea.

It should be noted that as desserts, just fresh fruits, dried fruits, various jellies, preserves, jams can be served on the table. Quick and easy to make fruit salad. So simple, but at the same time tasty, can be lean desserts, the recipes of which we examined above.
