The anime "Spirited Away" can be considered the legend of Japanese animation. It was created in 2001 by the Ghibli studio and immediately won the attention of the audience. This tape has become the highest grossing work of Hayao Miyazaki, and no matter how many times you review it, you always find something new. An entertaining plot of the feature film “Spirited Away”, characters whose personality is inimitable, leave only the brightest emotions.
Plot
The anime tells the story of the girl Chihiro and her adventures in another world, where spirits and deities live. And it all started very simply: the main character, together with her parents, moves to another city. Having almost reached the destination, the head of the family turned on the wrong turn, so Chihiro and his parents were in the woods near the old building with a long tunnel.

The characters of the anime "Spirited Away" decide to look around and, passing through the tunnel, fall on a wide meadow. The wind carries the smell of something appetizing, and Tihiro's father suggests that the abandoned city, visible on the hill, is an amusement park, because there were a lot of them set up in the 80s. Narrow streets, many restaurants and not a single living soul did not arouse suspicion among adults who decided to dine at the first restaurant. Meanwhile, Chihiro inspects the surroundings and meets a boy named Haku, who says that the girl and her parents leave the city before it gets dark. But bad luck, parents turned into pigs and for the sake of their salvation Chihiro must work for the sorceress, who runs the baths "Abura-ya".
main characters
As in every story, there are main and secondary characters. The main characters of the cartoon "Spirited Away" are:
- Chihiro Ogino is the main character in the anime "Spirited Away". When I got a job with the sorceress Yubaba, she received the name Sen. Hayao Miyazaki describes her as an ordinary, unremarkable girl of 10 years old. Although Seiyu (the announcer who voiced the heroine) noticed that Chihiro is not quite ordinary. She is spoiled and wayward. But in the process of history, its other side begins to appear with such character traits as responsibility, patience, industriousness and disinterestedness.

- Haku . He is Nihihayami Kohaku Mushi. Like most of the characters “Spirited Away”, he is not quite a man, and the Amber River Master is a dragon who takes the form of a boy. According to Kamaji's grandfather, he appeared from nowhere and decided to become a student of Yubaba. But along with the name of the sorceress, she takes away part of the memory, Haku became her right hand and did everything that the sorceress said. When he met Sen, memories began to return to him little by little. Therefore, he strongly helps Chihiro and supports her.
- Yubaba . Strong witch and mistress of "Abura-ya", where Sen works. She is strict and does not like to argue with her, but she always fulfills her promise. She likes to count the gold, so Yubaba feels its worth. Disabled, turns into pigs or embers. Immensely loves and pampers his son Bo.
The names of the characters "Spirited Away" are mainly taken from the myths of the Land of the Rising Sun or carry a hidden meaning. For example, “Chihiro” means “bottomless depth”, which is so impressive to river deities.
Minor Characters
The secondary characters "Spirited Away" should include the following:
- Faceless . God Kaonashi - a black shadow in a mask that is constantly looking for a place. A rogue god, without his own home, enters the Abura-I baths. He offers his help Chihiro, but when she refused, his choice falls on the frog. The faceless devours him and takes over his negative qualities - gluttony and greed, gradually turning into a monster.
- Zeniba . Yubaba's twin sister. She leads a quiet and modest lifestyle. Dzeniba is unpretentious and caring, will never take more than necessary, but if necessary she is ready to give a worthy rebuff.
- Grandfather Kamaji . Servant heating the water for the baths. He has six arms that can stretch to an unbelievable length. Spends all his time at work. He was the first to point out Chihiro's rules to follow. Despite his frightening appearance, Kamaji’s grandfather is good-natured and always ready to help.
- Rin . The servant girl in the baths who accompanied Chihiro to Yubaba. Among all the characters in Spirited Away, Rin can be called the most grouchy. For the first time, meeting with Chihiro, she immediately expressed everything that she thinks of her (unskilled, inept, awkward dumbass). She later became a mentor to Sen and was sincerely glad for the girl when she got a job. Rin is good-natured and always ready to come to the rescue of her newly made assistant.

- River Deity . When he came to the baths, everyone decided that it was the Spirit of garbage. So Hayao Miyazaki wanted to draw attention to the level of pollution of the rivers. In gratitude for the work, he gives Sen a bitter pie that heals.
- Bo . The spoiled and capricious son of Yubaba, whose world consists only of his room, because "only evil bacteria live outside." After returning from Dzeniba changes for the better.
- Ogino Akio . Father Chihiro. Sufficiently self-confident, tall and plump man who firmly believes that everything can be solved with money.
- Ogino Yuko . A short, graceful woman who occasionally criticizes her husband, but still comes after him.
Episodic characters
In the anime, the viewer encounters many unknown creatures. In Japanese mythology, in every tree, stone or house, there are spirits and deities who are responsible for them. According to legend, spirits and deities do not have a physical form, but they really need it to go to the baths. That’s why you can see a radish man in the cartoon, he is Osira-sama - the Spirit of radish, frogs that watch the baths, big ducks - Otori-sama or masked deities that became visible only after descending from the ship.
Hayao Miyazaki really made an outstanding masterpiece. He created a whole world with unique characters, which not only brought Japanese animation to the leaders, but also significantly expanded the images of spirits in local folklore.
