The plot of the series
It all starts on the island, when an ordinary teenager Zak is in the wrong place and at the wrong time, as a result of which he falls under the influence of ancient magic and becomes a mermaid. Fortunately, Zak moonlights as a lifeguard on the beach, so he swims perfectly and without a tail, so that new abilities do not scare the guy at all, but, on the contrary, open up unprecedented horizons! Full of optimism, he already presents himself in the role of a superhero saving people almost every day.
However, not all so simple! For "Secrets of the Mako Island", a series of adventures and surprises, they composed a very dynamic plot. The mermaid community reverently guards its secret, and on that very day three young mermaids, Siren, Nixie and Laila, simply joked unsuccessfully, as a result of which they were expelled from the pack. Mermaids have to turn into ordinary girls and go to land in search of Zach, to deprive him of magical powers. On land, girls have a hard time, because they do not know how to walk, have no idea what money is and are afraid of cats to death ... However, over time, the biggest problem in their lives turns into an exciting adventure!
Lucy Fry as Laila
Perhaps, in any series there is a heroine grumbling, who is always dissatisfied with something and considers herself smarter than everyone. In The Secrets of Mako Island, the actors are friendly enough, and only Lucy Fry was ideally suited for this role. All fans of the series know that the "Secrets of Mako Island" actors and plot are very similar to the project "H2O", released a few years earlier. Three mermaids who are friends with an ordinary guy face various troubles and dangers ... The series are similar up to the appearance of the main characters: 2 blondes and a brunette. In fact, this series is the H2O spin-off, filmed at the request of fans.
It was the H2O series that owed their brilliant career to Phoebe Tonkin and Claire Holt, who were then invited to the super-popular projects The Vampire Diaries and The Ancients.
