The drug "Timalin" (injections), according to some evidence, was discovered in 1971. It is obtained from biological material - the animal thymus gland, which is known as the thymus.
The medicine "Timalin" helps to restore immunological reactivity. By acting on the human thymus , the drug activates its functions. Thus, the body's reactions to pathological (pathogenic) stimuli are stimulated, and the ratio and number of B and T lymphocytes (shaped blood components responsible for the formation of tissue and cellular defenses in the body) and their subpopulations are normalized. Describing the mechanism of action of the Timalin drug, the instructions for use indicate the ability of the drug to enhance phagocytosis (active uptake of pathological microorganisms by phagocytes (blood cells)), stimulate regenerative processes, improve the function of the hematopoietic system (if it is inhibited), and stabilize cellular metabolism ( metabolism).
A drug is prescribed for adults and children as an immunomodulating and biostimulating drug.
Indications include diseases and conditions complicated by a decrease in immunity, including those associated with the development of chronic and acute pathologies in the soft tissues and bones of a purulent-inflammatory nature, bacterial and viral infections. The drug "Timalin" recommends the use of the drug for violations of regenerative processes (fractures, burns, frostbite, trophic ulcers, slowly healing skin lesions, necrosis after irradiation, as well as radiation tissue necrosis). The medicine is prescribed for ulcers in the duodenum and stomach, bronchial asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, obliterating endarteritis, multiple sclerosis. The drug is indicated for cancer patients to alleviate conditions complicated by the weakening of the functioning (hypofunction) of the thymus gland, accompanied by inhibition of hematopoiesis and immunity during chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
The medicine “Timalin” recommends the use of the drug for the prevention of complications (including infectious ones) in the postoperative, post-traumatic period, when prescribing antibiotic drugs in large doses, as well as during chemotherapy or radiation.
The drug is available in the form of lyophilized (dried in a special way) powder for the preparation of a solution for injection.
Before administration, the contents of the vial are mixed with one to two milliliters of an isotonic sodium chloride solution. The drug "Timalin" is intended for intramuscular injection. The introduction is carried out daily.
The dosage of the medicine "Timalin", the instructions for use recommend the use of the following: adults from five to twenty milligrams (thirty to one hundred milligrams per course of therapy), children from seven to fourteen years old - 3-5 mg, four to six years old - 2 -3 mg, from a year to three years - 1-2 mg, up to a year - 1 mg. The duration of treatment is from three to ten days.
For prevention, the drug is administered intramuscularly daily for 5-10 milligrams for adults and 1-5 milligrams for children for three to five days.
It should be noted that the medicine "Timalin" is not a simple tonic. In some situations, the use of an immunomodulator is impractical; instead, it is possible to support the immune system with vitamins or a balanced diet.
