Comedones are a type of cyst that forms on the skin of the face and body. Most often they are found on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. They are especially common in people with acne. In medicine, comedones are divided into two groups: closed (white acne formations) and open (black dots). If blackheads are completely painless and, as a rule, small, then white rashes are very painful and reach 5 mm in diameter.
Comedones are formations in the pores, consisting mainly of dead
epithelial cells, various kinds of impurities and sebum. Sebum is called a fatty substance, which is formed as a result of the secretion of the
sebaceous glands. When interacting with air, this secret, as well as various pigments, darken, as a result of which black dots form. In contrast, closed comedones are flesh-colored, since their contents remain under a thin layer of skin cells.
It must be remembered that comedones are, first of all, pathological formations. They appear if sebum cannot go outside. At the same time, it accumulates in the pores, thereby clogging them. Against this background, an inflammatory process can begin. The thing is that through the pores from the blood and lymph vessels, toxins come out, it is they who react with the sebaceous plug formed there. As a result, a viscous sticky mass is formed, which serves as an excellent nutrient medium for various pathological bacteria and fungi.
Comedones are a problem not only of teenagers, but also of people of mature age. Here are just some of the signs that indicate the possibility of their occurrence:
- dry, easily inflammable skin;
- enlarged pores;
- dull or rough skin;
- excess skin sebum secretion, especially on the forehead, chin and nose.
Closed comedones on the cheeks and forehead, of course, are less noticeable than black dots, but still they need to be treated. The cosmetologist prescribes a comprehensive treatment, depending on the reasons that led to the formation of
inflammation on the face. Sometimes it is very difficult to establish what kind of violation in the work of the body provoked the formation of comedones, therefore a number of laboratory studies are prescribed. Most often, bacterial inoculation is carried out. With its help determine the sensitivity of bacteria to certain types of antibiotics. Only after this, medications are prescribed.
Treatment also involves the use of ointments. The most effective are considered to be those that contain alpha-hydroxy acids in their composition. Glycerin creams have also proven themselves well, which actively contribute to the discovery of comedones and the elimination of their contents. Tetracycline is often prescribed for treatment.
In general, when answering the question of how to remove comedones, one can recommend intensive facial cleansing. This is easy to achieve by repeatedly washing with ordinary soap. It is necessary to minimize the contact of hair with the face, for example, to make a bun or tail. It is forbidden to often touch your face with your hands. Masks made of green and blue clay are very helpful.
