Grated currants with sugar - an excellent
preparation for the winter. It will not only provide the body with useful vitamins in the cold season, help maintain immunity, but will also be a delicious addition to tea on winter evenings, as well as a filling for pies or cookies. Cooking this "live jam" is quite simple, because in addition to berries and sugar you will not need anything else. Well, maybe a little time.
We make preparations for the winter: mashed currants with sugar
Prepare:
- 1 kilogram of ripe black currant;
- 2 kilograms of granulated sugar.
Of course, you can take more berries, the proportion is very simple - 1 to 2 (that is, for every kilogram of currant, 2 kg of sugar and so on). Wash the berry, and then dry it. The next step is to chop the currants in a blender or mixer, and it is highly recommended to use plastic nozzles, if possible, rather than metal ones. Without stopping the process, add sugar in fractional parts. When it has dissolved, pour the mass into the dishes - glass or enameled, and let stand. Grated currant with sugar does not need cooking, it just needs to be poured into previously sterilized jars, rolled up with lids and put in a cool place. So it can be stored up to six months.
Mashed redcurrant with sugar
Of course, you can make an excellent sweet preparation not only of black, but also of red currant. For this you will need:
- 1 kilogram of red currant;
- 2 kilograms of granulated sugar.
As in the previous recipe, the berry must first be washed and then dried (you can get it wet with a paper towel). Next, red currants need to be chopped with a mixer with plastic nozzles, but you can do this manually, using a wooden pestle. Although, if you are preparing a large portion of "cold jam", then there will be a lot of work. After the berry has turned into mashed potatoes, pour sugar in small portions into the mass, stirring thoroughly. When everything is ready, pour the resulting mousse into a plastic basin and let stand for a while (you can leave it overnight). After the specified time, the mashed currants with sugar are poured into steam-sterilized glass jars and rolled up with lids. You can store jam for up to six months. By the way, why is it recommended to use a wooden pestle or plastic nozzles to make this treat? The fact is that currants contain a large amount of vitamin C - 200 mg

per 100 g of product, as well as vitamins of group B, PP, A and others. Some of them are destroyed by contact with metals, and we do not need this at all. After all, by opening a jar of black or red currant in the winter, you can prepare an excellent jelly or fruit drink, as well as support the body during a cold by drinking a hot seagull with jam rich in healthy vitamins.
The recipe for currants mashed with sugar is simple, it will be mastered by any, even a novice, mistress. The main thing is to thoroughly sterilize the jars so that the jam does not deteriorate, and then store the workpieces in a cool place, as we have already recommended above.
