A phytolysin paste is a herbal combination agent with antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effect. As a rule, it is included in treatment courses for inflammation of the urinary tract and kidneys, in particular, cystitis and pyelonephritis. During exacerbations, paste alone, of course, is indispensable, but in combination with other drugs, Fitolizin accelerates the healing process by several times.
In addition, doctors often prescribe this remedy for urolithiasis, since it helps to remove small stones and prevents their further growth. Phytolysin paste not only effectively copes with all its functions, but also has a minimal amount of side effects.

Drug properties
Due to the biologically active substances contained in the phytolysin paste, the product has an antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, analgesic effect. According to the instructions, the composition of the drug has several important actions leading to recovery:

- blocks the spread of gram-positive bacteria in the urinary tract;

Saponins in the composition of the drug excellently cope with staphylococci. And silicates help to normalize the balance of colloids and crystalloids, thus preventing the formation of stones. These same elements improve the excretion of uric acid.
Indications
According to the instructions for use, the paste "Fitolizin" is advisable to use for the treatment of diseases of an infectious and inflammatory nature. Among those, it is worth highlighting:
- bladder inflammation - cystitis;
- damage to the urinary canals;
- pathological processes in the kidneys, in particular, pyelitis;
- urolithiasis;
- prevention of recurrence of calculi after surgery.
How to use the tool
With urolithiasis, cystitis and other genitourinary defects for adults, the instruction for phytolysin paste recommends taking one teaspoon 3-4 times a day after a meal. Before use, the product should be dissolved in half a glass of cool water. If desired, a little sugar can be added to the solution.
The course of treatment with phytolysin paste is usually 3-6 weeks. Further use is determined by the decision of the doctor.
It is worth saying that this drug does not adversely affect attention concentration and reaction rate. So during therapy, patients are not forbidden to drive cars, to engage in work that requires accuracy and quick decision-making.
Phytolysin paste during pregnancy
So far, special studies regarding the efficacy and safety of this drug for the expectant mother have not been conducted. That is why the instructions for the Fitolizin paste recommend that pregnant women refrain from using the medication.
It is not known exactly how safe for the baby to use the drug during breastfeeding. So for women who are prescribed this drug, it is best to temporarily stop lactation.
Interaction with other medicines
"Fitolizin" has a pronounced diuretic effect. With the joint use of this drug with other diuretics, this effect increases several times. According to the instructions, the use of Fitolizin paste can affect the effectiveness of other medicines, enhancing their effect. Use this drug in combination with such agents with extreme caution:
- medicines for diabetics - during therapy it is necessary to control not only the blood sugar level, but also the hypoglycemic index of the foods consumed;
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
- preparations containing lithium salts;
- monoamine oxidase inhibitors;
- anticoagulants - drugs that suppress the natural processes of blood coagulation to prevent the formation of blood clots.
The parallel use of phytolysin paste along with Pentobarbital and Paracetamol significantly prolongs their effect. Among other things, a plant diuretic slows down the absorption by the small intestine of agents that contain alpha-tocopherol and beta-carotene.
Side effects
Phytolysin paste, taken with cystitis, urolithiasis or other pathologies of the genitourinary system, can lead to the development of an allergic reaction, which manifests itself in the form of urticaria, rash, rhinitis and severe itching. The most common side effects of the drug are the following conditions:
- disturbances in the digestive tract;
- vomiting
- Dizziness
- too high UV susceptibility;
- diarrhea;
- bloating;
- renal colic.
Usually, all these negative manifestations disappear on their own after the drug is discontinued. But be that as it may, in the event of such problems should visit a doctor.
Contraindications
Herbal ingredients of the paste are considered relatively safe, but there are still some restrictions on its use. All of them are described in detail in the instructions for use of "Fitolizin".
- Allergy. If in the list of the main or auxiliary components of the medicine you saw one to which you previously had a negative reaction, you should not experiment. Unpleasant symptoms can overtake you literally after the first dosage of paste.
- Glomerulonephritis. This is a bilateral damage to the kidneys of a chronic nature, which is characterized by the gradual onset of renal failure and glomerular necrosis. At the same time, the filtering capabilities of organs suffer.
- Hepatitis and gallstone disease. Some ingredients of phytolysin ointment affect gallstones. However, under certain factors, stones can begin to move and lead to blockage of the bile ducts. With liver pathologies, it is also extremely important to correctly select the appropriate medications that will not affect its activity.
- Heart failure. This can also include swelling, which is noted in this condition. Such edema is in no way associated with the activity of the kidneys, so getting rid of them with phytolysin paste will not work.
- Gluten intolerance and celiac disease. This element is an ingredient in wheat. But in some people, a congenital deficiency of enzymes is found, which entails the inability to digest gluten. As a result, an intestinal upset occurs, which then develops into severe exhaustion and multivitamin deficiency.
- Epilepsy, alcoholism. The composition of the drug has a microdose of ethanol, which is strictly forbidden to people suffering from these ailments.
- Phosphate neoplasms. Such stones are characterized by too rapid growth. So their treatment should be no less active. Phytolysin paste in this case is ineffective.
- Age is under 18 years. The use of the drug in the treatment of children has not been investigated in a clinical setting. So pediatricians usually do not prescribe the drug to small patients.
Analogs
Phytolysin ointment, if necessary, can be replaced with identical drugs. The Ukrainian drug Fitolizin Plus is considered a full analogue of the paste. He has the same indications, form of release, method of application and composition. In addition, the Polish medication can be replaced by similar means:
- "Uronefron".
- "Kanefron".
- "Fitolit".
- "Blemaren."
- Uralit-U
- Cyston.
- "Citrokas".
- "Quote".
- Brusniver.
- Brusnilan.
- Knotweed grass.
The cost of phytolysin paste in different pharmacies ranges from 360-540 rubles per tube, with a volume of 100 g. Usually, there are no problems with finding a drug.
Reviews about phytolysin paste
On the Web, you can find conflicting responses about this drug. Most often, patients complain of too harsh and unpleasant smell and taste of the paste. Many simply do not manage to calmly take the remedy.
As for the effectiveness of phytolysin paste, the reviews are also ambiguous - it copes with oxalate stones of even significant sizes and pretty quickly eliminates the inflammatory process with cystitis. But with problems with the urinary canals, it does not always turn out to be truly effective.
Doctors also respond well about this drug, talking about its effectiveness in urolithiasis and anti-inflammatory properties. But doctors warn: the paste shows effectiveness only in relation to oxalate calculi, but with phosphate stones it is absolutely contraindicated.
