People have long noticed that some varieties of berries are medicinal for our body. For example, in Asia, medlar is revered, and in the south of Ukraine , physalis is grown. And if in the northern regions of Russia they say that honeysuckle is a jam that brings strength and strengthens the immune system, then in the central and southern regions we have our own proven remedy - red currant!
Both the pure berries and redcurrant jam contain a huge amount of pectins, which help to prevent the occurrence of respiratory viral diseases, increase weakened immunity and remove toxins and toxins from the human body, while preventing the development of inflammatory processes in the gastrointestinal tract.
In cooking, not only jelly and fruit drinks known to everyone are prepared from it, but also jam. The latter, in turn, has a special delicious aroma and is very often taken for colds as an antipyretic.
But first of all, red currant is, of course, an amazing delicacy that can impress even the most capricious gourmets with its taste.
Due to the gelling properties of the berries themselves, red currant jam turns out to be rather thick in their consistency, and therefore is not only an ideal filling for pies or pancakes, but also in itself can become a real table decoration. Just imagine: a transparent crystal vase filled to the top with a juicy red treat.
Delicious?
I donβt know about you, but I, having barely noticed this dish on the table, simply can not resist and do not run after a spoon, while on the run I put a kettle on the stove or pour a full mug of milk! Redcurrant jam! Could there be anything even tastier ?!
Have you ever tasted this yummy in your life?
What, however, did not happen? You know, but I probably envy you. Now read the recipe, cook, and you will expect an unprecedented feast! Lucky! Personally, I just love discovering culinary news!
And to make such a jam is not at all difficult, for this you will need only adhere to this recipe step by step.
So, redcurrant: jam. List of ingredients:
- berries - 1 kg;
- granulated sugar - 1kg;
- water - Β½ cup;
- vanillin - 1 sachet.
1. First of all, remember that you only need large berries, because You can make really tasty redcurrant jam only using large-fruited varieties.
2. Rinse the berries well under running water and separate the seeds from them. Then, to dry, it is recommended to lay them out in one layer on previously prepared clean and dry towel or paper.
3. While the currant dries, in the meantime, pour granulated sugar into the basin and pour the required amount of water. This sweet mass is recommended to bring to a boil over low heat. It will be necessary to stir constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
4. After this, it is time to pour the already dried berries into the basin and shake all its contents well. It is recommended to cook over medium heat. After boiling, wait about 20 minutes and taste your delicacy. To check if the dish is ready, experienced chefs recommend doing the following: tilt the spoon and observe. If the syrup is well kept, then the jam is ready. If not, try boiling for a few more minutes and add sugar. Vanillin can be added to an already prepared redcurrant jam to give a more refined taste.
5. Banks intended for storing treats must be sterilized and dried. And only after that it is permissible to spread the jam in them and clog the lids.
Thatβs probably all. This is how my favorite dish is prepared.
And you, my dear readers, I would like to wish you bon appetit!
