The film "In advance": actors and roles. Plot of the film

The action movie "In advance" (actors: Guy Pearce, Vincent Regan, Maggie Grace, Lenny James, Joseph Gilgan) is called a successful cocktail from the traditions of the cult "Die Hard" and romantic old Hollywood comedies about the inexorable attraction of opposites. Produced by his eminent Luke Besson, and removed two talented debutants from Dublin - James Mater and Stephen St. Ledger. Every second watcher, especially if he is a fan of the cinema of the 90s, will add to his head the spirit of the notorious “old school” in the fantastic action movie “Naprolom” (2012). The actors who took part in the work on the film do not question this statement.

Forced retraining

In the early 2000s, fans of two movie genres - action and science fiction, who literally restarted and ceased to exist in the usual form of the 90s, had to be retrained forcibly. But recently, they have slowly begun to return, however, somewhat in a post-modern format. One of the most significant flagships of such a comeback was Europa Corp. led by Luc Besson. Without thinking twice, he turned a clever feint. Being one of the "leaders" of the "new wave" of French cinema, Besson practically returned genre cinema to a strict producer dictate, which had previously been allegedly overthrown by the first "new wave" and its Hollywood followers.

Free spin-off. Plot

Created by Europa Corp. 2012 with the capacious title “Forward” (the actors, in contrast to the unknown debutants-directors, are quite famous) among the captivated movie screens of pseudo-realistic “Bourne” and comic book heroes look like a free spin-off of “The Expendables”, the plot action of which is transferred to outer space. Events unfold in the distant 2079. A special agent with the wonderful surname Snow (Guy Pearce) is suspended, charged with treason and sent to an orbital prison, where prisoners are sentenced to life-long lethargy. But everything goes awry due to the rampant activities of the president’s daughter (Maggie Grace). She, as a true fighter for human rights, is sent to the latest space colony with an inspection. This event is not disregarded by the ex-associates of the prisoners who remained at large. As a result, all convicts wake up, develop violent activity, demanding amnesty. Now all hope is for Snow, who gets a chance to find freedom in exchange for the return of the wayward daughter unharmed from the heat of prison riot.

Without orbital complexes

The authors of the film “In advance”, the actors and roles of which were personally selected by Besson, returned to the fantastic action movie what he lacked so much. They made the insanely charismatic guy shirt the main protagonist of whom every second person wants to be like. Guy Pearce is a famous actor who has earned the audience sympathy and recognition of film critics for several works (such as “Proposals” or “Secrets of Los Angeles”). So in this project, he sparkles with a tempting smile, letting another group of extras into consumption. Of course, the role of Snow in the film academy will not be counted towards him, but you can see how Pierce feels the undisguised pleasure of his work, and with this he infects almost any moviegoer. And really, alone against 500 - is that really a problem?

Actress Maggie Grace faithfully played the image of “a lady in trouble” (she is not used to the role of a beautiful woman who is being saved from bandits, for example, in “Hostage”). Of the antagonists, I was pleased and remembered in the role of a real scumbag and a crazy brother of the leader of the criminals, who looked like the freak Heidel Joseph Gilgan - a characteristic English actor. He is known to the viewer for the TV projects This is England and Misfits. His more intelligent older brother Alex is played by Vincent Regan, also a famous English actor. Regan starred in films such as 300 Spartans, Troy, and Joan of Arc. The actors of the film “Breaking Through” (2012) imbued the spirit of the picture and created bright, impressive characters.

Their trunks in 1991 did not hang around

In 1991, comedic fighters survived their Golden Era. Most of these films, which later received the status of reference and cult, mercilessly exploited the method of clash of opposites, that is, united in a team of heroes with opposite characters, image and goals in life. The director John Badham did not experiment. Having invited Michael J. Fox and James Woods to the leading roles of celebrities, and to play the role of the main antagonist, the colorful Stephen Lang, he set about creating the action movie Hard Way, aka Naprol (film, 1991). The actors who starred in the tape, with pleasure, embodied the director’s idea on the screen.

Always relevant

John Badham is a rather talented director who specializes in filming purely entertaining films. Moreover, in his works there is no pronounced adult context, humor is unobtrusive, easy, and the characters are insanely charming, so his films appeal to both adults and children. Perhaps, it was thanks to this circumstance that his films were relevant in the dashing 90s, contemporary in our chaotic modernity, and will continue to be in demand. As in his other films, the director in the project “In Advance” (the actors barely kept up with the tricks) “warms up” closer to the climax, too zealous in saturating the final episodes with spectacular stunt scenes. And he does this to prolong all the situations in which the main characters find themselves trying to catch the elusive killer maniac.

Plot

The famous Hollywood star Nick Lang (Michael J. Fox) is determined to change his image of a “nice guy” and convincingly play the role of a “cool” cop. Fate favors him and provides a chance to gain experience in practice. To enter the image, Nick goes to the real police station in New York, where he is identified as a companion to an expert wisdom detective John Mossom (James Woods). A weird couple is looking for a real maniac, who has been terrorizing the city for some time.

Leading actors

Actor Michael J. Fox is too successful in applying comic tricks, preferring more straightforward actions in the embodiment of his character’s image, some episodes of the film “Break through” suffer from this. Actor James Woods became a little boring to the viewer in the steadfast image of an eternal cop, not grabbing stars from heaven, but always seeking justice. Ten years later, the film “The Show Begins” will be released, the creators of which will borrow the idea of John Badham not only from the heroes - the cop and celebrity of Hollywood, but also with the character of the main characters.

Direct action

In 2004, the creative union of director Sidney J. Fury and screenwriter Greg Mellot found out if one person could radically change the situation. As a result, the world saw the film “In Advance” (actors: Dolph Lundgren, Donald Burda, Polly Shannon, Rotaford Gray, Conrad Dunn). This low-budget action movie can be safely called a tribute to the cool action movies of the 80s and early 90s, in which one character saved the whole situation - an exemplary hero who goes ahead to achieve his goal. So in the movie Sidney J. Fury, the central character - policeman Frank - destroys everyone and everything in his path. He is opposed by corrupt colleagues. The film is straightforward and formulaic in structure. The leading actor, in spite of enthusiastic public assessments of his physical form, disappointed with his acting skills. Lundgren’s game in this film received negative reviews and sarcastic comments.

"Icebreaker"

Director and screenwriter David Giancola made a picture in 2000, the name of which literally sounds like “Icebreaker”. But thanks to the wisdom of domestic adapters in the CIS countries, it was released as a movie “In Advance”. Actors Sean Astin, Stacy Keach, Bruce Campbell and Suzanne Turner, having reincarnated as their characters, presented the viewer with a story about an incident involving an airplane crash with stolen nuclear warheads. In addition to FBI agents, a unit of international terrorists under the command of Greig (Bruce Campbell) is sent to search for valuable cargo. The plane crashes near the prestigious ski resort, so the militants take all tourists hostage. Only the lifeguard Matt managed to escape the deplorable fate. He alone will have to free the hostages and prevent the terrorists from taking possession of the dangerous cargo (taking into account that the terminally ill Greig is ready to arrange a local nuclear Apocalypse in case of a fiasco).
