Fans of detective stories are probably familiar with the books “Lawyer” and “Journalist”, on which the film “Gangster Petersburg” was shot. The author of these remarkable works - Andrei Konstantinov (real name Baconin) - is familiar to every Russian.

Writer Andrei Konstantinov: biography

September 30, 1963 in the Astrakhan region, the village of Volga, was born Andrei Dmitrievich Bakonin. The parents of the future writer, Natalya Pavlovna and Dmitry Viktorovich, were at that time students of the Technological Institute and had practical training in the Volga region. After its completion, they returned to Leningrad with their son.

As a child, Andrei Konstantinov dreamed of archeology, new discoveries. But in the end, after graduating from school in 1980, he entered the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Leningrad State University. He graduated from the university with a specialization in the history and culture of the Arab countries. While still a student, he began working in Yemen as an Arabic translator, then in Benghazi, in Tripoli he was a senior translator. Upon returning to Russia in 1991, he worked as a correspondent in the newspaper Smena, a host of criminal chronicles.

Creative activity

Andrei Konstantinov began his career as a writer thanks to his friend, the Swedish journalist Malcolm Dixelius. A well-known journalist and director in Europe came to Russia to make a film about organized criminal groups, Andrei Dmitrievich helped him in the filming. And later their joint work, The Underworld of Russia, was released. Despite the fact that books were brought to Andrey Konstantinov's general fame, he claims that his favorite brainchild is journalism.

The next step in his writing career was his acquaintance with the then-famous film director Valery Ogorodnikov. He invited a budding journalist to create a script for a film about gangster groups. At first, Andrei Konstantinov wanted to refuse, referring to the fact that he did not have enough experience, but in the end he agreed. So his book “Lawyer” appeared, which was the basis of the film “Gangster Petersburg”.

In 1995, Andrei Konstantinov proposed the establishment of a journalism competition of the international scale “Golden Pen”. In 1998, he created an agency of independent journalistic investigations, on their account dozens of uncovered contract killings and other serious crimes. In addition to journalism and literature, Andrei Dmitrievich teaches at the Faculty of Journalism at St. Petersburg State University.

The creative heritage of the writer is very extensive: it is a whole series of wonderful books. The very first, "Gangster Petersburg", on which the television movie of the same name was shot, includes twelve books. They describe the adventures of journalist Andrei Obnorsky, who began to investigate the murder of his friend. As a result, he was drawn into an incredible cycle of events, where bandits and special services were involved. Who should be more afraid, time will tell.

The next series of books - “Outdoor Observation” - consists of three volumes: “Crew”, “Rebus”, “Trap”. Here we are talking about two friends, Pavel Kozyrev and Igor Lyamina, who, by hook or by crook, tried to get into the service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs. As a result, they succeeded, both comrades were taken to the operational-search unit. In the first days of work, their comrade is killed, but evil must be punished.

The following trilogy, “Yours is a stranger”: in it Valery Shtukin, an employee of the criminal investigation department, is introduced into the gang of the former thief in law Yungerov. The plot is interesting in that the criminal sends his adoptive son to the police service. The fate of these two people intertwined in a ball, will it be possible to unravel it?
