Depp did not “pull the blanket over himself” and did not turn the film into a “film named after himself”, fairly sharing the audience’s prize with other performers. Although it is difficult to imagine any other actor who would be able to so accurately convey to the viewer the essence of the chocolate sorcerer. Naturally, Helena Bonham Cater also appeared in the picture, however, it is difficult to recall the Burton film in which she would not have appeared recently. David Kelly also smartly realized himself in the film - Joe’s grandfather in his performance is simply unforgettable and ridiculously ridiculous. The musical accompaniment of the movie is simply gorgeous, unsurpassed. Composer Danny Elfman is a true master of his craft. It is difficult to name another modern music creator who can so clearly emphasize the mood, emotional atmosphere of individual moments of the film. Without musical accompaniment, the film would have lost a large share of its demonic magnetic appeal. The melody on “Main Titles” seems to cover with a wave of uncontrollable sinister fun, striking just in the heart, instantly and irreversibly immersing the picture looking into the atmosphere.
Happy-end is much nicer
The almost verbatim and accurate adaptation of Roald Dahl’s eponymous children's work in the interpretation of Tim Burton has turned into one of the best comedies, fantasy adaptations and musicals of our time. Spectators have not seen a more cinematic movie “with special cynicism” since the second part of “Kill Bill”. And the best and strongest ensemble - since the time of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Well, for that matter, the best freaks - since the release of the Zhmurok rental, but definitely the freaks are much funnier. And the best special and visual effects since the release of the fantastic action movie "I, Robot." The film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (actors, visuals, narrative structure) is compelling evidence that Tim Burton is rightfully seated on the throne of Hollywood's main storyteller.
