Andipal tablets. Pros and cons

In our time, among the representatives of the older generation it is difficult to meet a person who would not know what anipalus is. Andipal tablets are found in family first-aid kits if one of the household suffers from frequent headaches. Due to the high antispasmodic, analgesic and vasodilating properties of the drug, a quick effect is achieved if necessary, lowering blood pressure, alleviating the condition with severe headaches or pain. It is also used for spasmodic pains in the digestive tract, spasms of the vessels of the brain or peripheral system.

Andipal tablets have a quick and powerful effect on the body due to its combined nature. They include metamizole sodium (analgin), papaverine hydrochloride, bendazole (dibazole) and phenobarbital. If we consider separately the properties of the substances that make up the drug, we get the following picture:

  • analgin has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects;
  • Dibazole has a vasodilating property, thereby it is able to relieve vascular spasms and lower blood pressure. Its widespread use is also the removal of spasms of internal organs in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, cholecystitis, colitis, pancreatitis) and the treatment of certain diseases of the nervous system;
  • papaverine hydrochloride prevents spasms of both internal organs and blood vessels. Working in conjunction with dibazole, it greatly enhances the effect of analgin with the combined use of these drugs for the treatment of migraine or severe headache;
  • phenobarbital has a sedative property, due to which the effect of other components and the entire drug on the body is enhanced.

Andipal tablets are chosen by people of advanced age who prefer to use old β€œproven” tablets , rather than similar modern, similar in effect, but much more expensive tablets. From pressure, andipal is used in combination with antihypertensive drugs. It has a positive effect on high blood pressure. The greatest efficiency is achieved when applied by patients at the first stage of hypertension, if the blood pressure readings do not exceed 150/90 mm Hg. Andipal tablets have a mild sedative effect and it is recommended to use them systemically, in the form of a treatment course. Dibazole and papaverine, which are part of them, as a result of such treatment contribute to the restoration of vascular wall tone, which effectively counteracts the development of hypertension.

The Andipal drug is taken in one or two tablets, up to three doses per day are allowed. The course of treatment is 5-7 days.

But this drug has limitations. Children under 14 years old are contraindicated. Its phenobarbital has a negative effect on the developing cells of the brain of the child, which may adversely affect its mental development. Therefore, if there is an urgent need to use the drug, the doctor should carefully weigh all the circumstances and possibilities of prescribing alternative treatment.

The drug "Andipal" during pregnancy is now widely used, it effectively counteracts many negative symptoms. But the risk of giving birth to a child with cerebral palsy remains high, because phenobarbital, even in small doses, can inhibit the development of the brain and nervous system of the fetus. The question of its application remains open. In this case, it is always taken into account that many other antihypertensive drugs have an even greater detrimental effect on the fetus. Therefore, the doctor and the expectant mother should be very careful about the use of the Andipal drug during pregnancy.

Also, the Andipal remedy is contraindicated in the presence of diseases of the kidneys, blood, liver and in case of individual intolerance to one of its components.
