Details about the dental gel 'Metrogil Dent'. Instruction for use

The bulk of people believe that daily brushing permanently eliminates the need to visit a dentist. In addition, now there are so many kinds of toothpastes and other dentifrices and oral care products that, according to advertising, strengthen tooth enamel and whiten and prevent gum inflammation and freshen breath, etc. Yes, all this is partly true, but all the same, tooth powders and pastes are called in, rather, in order to more effectively clean teeth from food and plaque residues, and enamel strengthening and other “special effects” are additional properties of the product. In addition, brushing your teeth cannot prevent the appearance of, for example, tartar or gum inflammation when a wisdom tooth is cut. In addition, not everyone has naturally good and strong teeth. But it turns out that everyone runs to the dentist only when there really is a problem: the tooth ached, the seal fell out, etc.

Of course, only specialists can put in fillings, remove stones and “reconstruct” teeth, but you can reduce the risk of certain dental diseases if you regularly take care not only of them, but also of the gums. Otherwise, periodontitis, gingivitis and the notorious caries will be provided to you. But if this nevertheless happened, the Metrogil Dent dental gel can help you out. Instructions for its use state that it should be used for acute and chronic gingivitis, periodontitis, pulpitis, periodontal disease (including complicated by inflammation), alveolitis, periodontitis, cheilitis, aphthous stomatitis.

Treatment with this drug is not recommended for children under the age of six. If you have an individual intolerance to any component that is part of the Metrogil Dent preparation, its use is also contraindicated. Pregnant women should treat this remedy very carefully, especially in the first trimester, and if you are going to use it during lactation, it is better to temporarily stop breast-feeding. In any case, consult your doctor. Side effects of the gel include headache, some allergic reaction, accompanied by itching, skin rash, urticaria, but in most cases this ointment is well tolerated.

The instructions describe the following rules for dispensing Metrogil Dent: with gingivitis, it is applied to the gums twice a day and kept for 30 minutes (you should refrain from drinking and eating at this time). It is not necessary to wash off the gel. On average, the course of such therapy is from 7 to 10 days. With periodontitis, in particular, after dental deposits have been removed, periodontal pockets are treated with the preparation, and the gel is applied to the gum area twice a day. They also stand 30 minutes, and the course of treatment itself lasts 7-10 days or more, depending on the severity of the disease. The same number of procedures and time for them is given for alveolitis and stomatitis.

But the instruction enclosed in the packaging of the Metrogil Dent preparation does not mention that this gel can be used for inflammation and suppuration of the gums when a wisdom tooth “breaks through”. In some cases, these teeth grow quickly, imperceptibly and painlessly for a person, but there are often exceptions, up to the removal of the tooth by surgery. Therefore, if pus has accumulated in the periodontal pocket , then to remove it, you do not need to run to the clinic and endure the pain from an injection and cleaning: just apply an application to this area, i.e. cotton swab with ointment, for 15-20 minutes, - the gel will “stretch” the pus. After 2-3 sessions, the gum will return to normal.

If for some reason this gel is not on sale, and you urgently need to anesthetize the tooth, ask for the Metrogil Dent analogues . They are most often identical in composition, but produced in other countries. Analogues include Dentagel, Metrodent and Metrohex. These drugs are sold over the counter in pharmacies without a prescription. But, of course, the use of a particular ointment does not cancel brushing your teeth and visiting a dentist for prevention twice a year. Any drug should not be used thoughtlessly, it is better to find out the opinion of a specialist about it. If you decide to use the Metrogil Dent gel, the instructions for its use should be read before starting treatment.
