The life of every athlete is not limited to training and competition alone, his everyday life, the passions that boil in it, are sometimes no less hot than on the thorny path to victory. Filmmakers have known this for a long time and perfectly, therefore they continually use a comparison of these opposite sides of the coin, turning the lives of athletes into exciting and exciting movie dramas. The sports movie drama directed by John Lee Hancock “The Invisible Side” (actors: S. Bullock, C. Aaron, T. McGraw, D. Head), released in 2009 according to a script based on the book by Michael Lewis, is a great example of such a project .

"The Invisible Side" has a far from original plot. The young orphan, African American Michael Ohr, does not stay long in any of the adoptive families of the city of Memphis, Tennessee. When, due to his complex nature and violent temper, he once again finds himself in a shelter, fate introduces the boy to an independent and determined woman, a conservative, interior designer Lee Ann Thuy (Sandra Bullock). Michael becomes an entrance to Tui’s house and, despite a misunderstanding of Lee Ann’s wealthy friends, gradually joins her family. Having overcome a lot of difficulties, Michael (Quinton Aaron) is successful in his studies, joins the team of the football school, where he manifests himself as an indispensable leader. And when only a little remains before well-being, an annoying wormhole appears in the soul of the main character. He doubts whether the guardian really sheltered him out of an emotional outburst, without mercantility and calculation. The inspector from the sports association also doubts this. Such a difficult story was transferred to the screen by the actors. The “invisible side” turned out to be touching and sincere in many respects thanks to the efforts of the main actors.
Favorable difference
At that moment, as most biographical films tell about what athletes have to overcome outside and inside the competition, the "Invisible Side" (the actors strongly emphasized this fact) compares favorably with other genre refinements with a non-trivial choice of central characters. The main idea of the sports drama about the young American football player Michael Ore is based not on the athlete’s personality, but on his adoptive family, guardians who took Ora as a teenager. Everything that Lee Ann Tui had to go through and overcome can be safely equated with victory at prestigious sports competitions, and Michael’s success and recognition should be considered her main award. It is not for nothing that Sandra Bullock, the performer of the main female role, collected all conceivable awards for this drama. An unexpected grandiose success, like an avalanche, covered the film "The Invisible Side". Actors and roles have become recognizable. The father of the family was embodied on screen by actor and country singer Tim McGraw, the school mentor of the protagonist - Oscar-winning Katie Bates.
Sandra Bullock
Initially, Julia Roberts was offered to play the main female role in the film, but the Hollywood star spoiled by fabulous fees did not show a bit of interest in the project. However, Sandra Bullock agreed to take part in the filming only the third time. The fact is that her character, Lee Ann Thuy, is a convinced Christian, and in general the theme of faith occupies a significant place in the plot of the film. Bullock categorically did not like it. Everyone was at a loss: both the film crew and the actors who had already agreed. The "invisible side" was left without a performer of the role of the central character. But after the director introduced the actress to the really existing Tui family, and Sandra visited the school where Michael studied, she gave her consent.
