Karen Hovhannisyan was born in 1978. His hometown is Yerevan. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology, after which he studied directing courses. As a thesis, he presented the examiners with a short film “Doors of Self”. However, in the capital of Armenia, Karen Hovhannisyan could not realize his creative potential, and therefore left for Moscow.

Karen Hovhannisyan entered VGIK. According to his memoirs, he did not graduate from one of the most prestigious institutions of Russia on the recommendation of the director Motyl. The creator of the “White Sun of the Desert” allegedly watched one of his works and expressed the opinion that such a great talent could be destroyed by the VGIK educational program. And so the hero of this article left the institute, which in addition could not afford to study, and entered public relations courses at the Russian State Humanitarian University.
Since 2003, Hovhannisyan also began editing and filming video clips. His film debut was the film "I Stay." This picture was the last in the work of the leading actor. Hero A. Krasko was voiced by another actor.
In 2008, Hovhannisyan made the action film "Brownie". The plot of this picture is based on the story of the author of detective novels and an assassin. The main roles in the film were played by actors of Russian cinema: V. Mashkov, Ch. Khamatova, K. Khabensky.

"I stay"
The film tells the story of a world that is between life and death. The main character in an accident falls into a coma. A sad story has a happy ending for him. During his stay in a coma, he revised his views on life. Being a previously convinced atheist, Dr. Tyrsa (character of the debut picture of Hovhannisyan) believed that not everything in this world has a scientific explanation. It is worth saying that the picture "I remain" is not without black humor.
The roles in the film were played by famous actors. The presence in the credits of such names as Andrei Sokolov, Fedor Bondarchuk, Elena Yakovleva, could not help attracting the attention of viewers to the work of an unknown filmmaker. But the picture, despite being the first in the filmography of Hovhannisyan, earned numerous positive reviews.
