Artistic eight-part military saga of the joint production of Russia and Ukraine âThe Ballad of the Bomberâ (actors: Nikita Efremov, Alexander Davydov, Ekaterina Astakhova, Nina Usatova and Victoria Tolstoganova) was filmed by director Vitaly Vorobyov based on the eponymous work by Mikhail Weller. Vorobyov, who already had experience in staging military paintings (Desantura), together with screenwriter Arkady Tigay and author of a literary source Mikhail Weller, transferred the film to the film of the story of Nikolai Bogdanov, the commander of the 12th guards long-range bomber regiment. Actors of the series âBallad of a Bomberâ became the object of close attention of spectators and critical critics literally immediately after the project was released.
Ballad in the cinema
The ballad as a term is interpreted as follows - this is a lyric-epic poetic work, characterized by a pronounced plot of a domestic, but often historical character, in which mythical themes are often used. According to the origin, the ballad is directly and extremely closely connected with folk legends, combines the main features of the song and story. This is one of the main genres in the poetry of romanticism and sentimentalism. Their characters are very bright with categorically outlined characters. Quite romantic is the âBallad of a Bomber,â the actors and roles of which fully correspond to the postulates stated above. Especially when you consider that the ballad in the cinema manifests itself like a visible word that depicts the phenomena of life, their sequence and order, as a change of frames.
The most emotional storytelling
The Vorobyov series is not only logically connected, but also the most excited emotional narrative. It could not be otherwise, because ballad-type works are practically a pure script: they include free transitions (in time), influxes, displacement of plans and bold, innovative (free) editing. It is noticeable that during the work, the creators used âmighty helpâ - compositional features (specific editing), a combination of visual (visual) images, individual episodes, frames, and scenes. The film âThe Ballad of the Bomberâ, the actors and roles of which were chosen by the creators with special care, can be compared with the legendary project âSeventeen Moments of Springâ - for the feeling of oppressive anxiety and the manner of narration; with âThe Last Armored Trainâ - for battle scenes and the effect of presence; with "Burnt by the Sun" - for a romantic story amid a raging war.
Guiding thread and two versions
The series was broadcast on TV in a more complete version than the version later released on DVD. True film lovers are not recommended to watch the Blu-ray version, because the series has no unnecessary (protracted) scenes, there is simply nothing to trim in it. The film "The Ballad of the Bomber", whose actors amaze with sincerity, is a complete and verified story. Without cut frames, the guiding thread of the narrative is lost, the plot becomes foggy, individual aspects and the motivation of actions are not entirely clear.
Each episode is a highlight
Throughout 8 episodes of the television series âBallad of a Bomber,â the actors and roles are united in a harmonious union, reveal the characters' characters. The project is accessible and understandable to a wide and variegated audience, it looks literally in the same breath. In addition to the intrigue present, each new episode (series) has a âtwistâ - in one the characters are revealed more, the other illuminates a certain separate theme. The prologue to the series can be called a huge plus of the series, which allows the beholder to tune in the right way, to remember and comprehend what he saw. It remains to be wondered how, with the full disclosure of the types and characters of the characters, the movie continues to keep the viewer in suspense until the final series.
Plot
It is impossible to describe in a couple of lines the development of the storyline of the series "The Ballad of the Bomber." Actors who performed the main roles will cope with this task while watching better than any film expert. The action takes place during the Second World War. In the territory occupied by the fascist invaders, a military aircraft of the USSR crashes. The pilot Grivtsov and his beloved girlfriend, radio operator Katya, went on a mission. In addition to a pair of lovers, the navigator Linko was miraculously managed to survive. Now they are obliged not only to survive, but also to fulfill the combat mission set by the command and return.
Characters
The actors of the film âBallad of a Bomberâ created an amazing gallery of interesting, vivid character images:
- Andrei Grivtsov (Nikita Efremov) is a captain-bomber, a principled, proud, confident man - a real hero.
- Ekaterina Flerova (Ekaterina Astakhova) - the beloved of the main character, the radio operator, the pride of intelligence schools.
- The navigator Linko (Alexander Davydov) is a fit man, guided only by the desire to survive. His character and actions are opposed to those of Grivtsov.
Opponents, i.e., fascist-Hitler invaders, are shown to be infinitely neat, measured, but in some situations hopelessly stupid, which upsets. Interesting are: a nomadic partisan detachment under the command of wise life Savchuk (Nina Usatova) and a sabotage special group led by Deryabin (Yegor Barinov). It is impossible not to note the subtle episodic work of Andrei Gusev and individual German actors.
Decent answer
The Ballad of a Bomber project, whose actors have an international composition, should not be regarded as a serious military movie, after all, it is a ballad. And a certain proportion of âsugarâ in the story, of course, is present. In any case, this creation can claim the title of a worthy answer to the endless US patriotic paintings about this terrible war, such as âSaving Private Ryanâ or âThe Pacific Frontâ. Moreover, in comparison with the aforementioned Hollywood films "Ballad ..." is deprived of inappropriate pathos and more believable.
