History of the Kemerovo Circus
The first circus in Kemerovo was wooden. It was built by the winter of 1932 on Kirov Street. The construction accommodated 1602 places, which by the standards of that time was truly amazing. However, on March 2, 1971, a fire occurred. The wooden building burned to the ground. All residents are very upset. Almost the entire city gathered around the charred building. Many years ago, Yuri Vladimirovich Nikulin was on his first tour in the Kemerovo Circus . He and his comrade from the course were summoned to participate in his production by the then-famous clown Pencil. The performance was preceded by lengthy rehearsals of the show with horses in Moscow.
Arriving in the city, where at that time frost reigned at 40 degrees, Yuri Nikulin finally froze on a sleigh. However, this did not prevent the artist from conducting his first real performance. He took part immediately in all reprises. It was a room with horses and a scene from the Automobile Plant. He also played a janitor in miniature with a broken statue of Venus. The last scene was “Watering Can,” in which a pencil doused him with water.
