History
In the early 30s of the last century, the spouses of the Garyanovs, actors of the drama theater, arrived in Chelyabinsk. They bought a charming old toy - Parsley from the master in the local market. It was this acquisition that gave rise to the idea of creating a puppet theater in the city .
Pavel and Nina Garianov enthusiastically set to work. The first performances were on the stage of the local drama theater. Only in 1935 the authorities officially announced the creation of the Chelyabinsk State Puppet Theater. He was placed in one of the rooms of the House of Art Education of Children: they built a small stage, arranged chairs for young spectators. And on 10/02/1935 the first performance was held here - "Kashtanka". This date is considered the birthday of the Puppet Theater in Chelyabinsk.
Years passed. Puppeteers improved their art, the scene expanded, the first awards appeared. The performances "Silver Hoof", "Tiger Cub Petrik", "Malchish-Kibalchish" became a legend. In the early 1970s The 20th century introduced the Puppet Theater (Chelyabinsk). Here, for the first time, non-screen performances were played, when the audience saw the puppeteers live. Also on stage were performances for adults ("Love and Three Oranges", "Gods in Love"). The unexpected expansion of the children's theater’s repertoire caused mixed ratings, and for the time being 16+ performances were suspended.
In 1972, the Puppet Theater (Chelyabinsk) received a new building, in which it is located today.
In 1977, director Valery Volkhovsky came to the Chelyabinsk Children's Theater. Here he worked for 10 years and staged many unforgettable performances, including “We Play Cheburashka”, “The Adventures of Dunno,” “Buka”, “The Straw Lark”, “Career Arturo Wu”, “The Little Prince”, “The Stork and the Scarecrow” and even Dead Souls by N. Gogol.
