The medicine "Cameton" is produced in the form of a spray intended for topical use in ENT practice. One bottle (20 g) of the drug contains an emulsion, which includes the following active substances - 200 mg of camphor, 200 mg of levomenthol, 200 mg of chlorobutanol hemihydrate, 200 mg of eucalyptus oil.
A spray tube is attached to the bottle, when pressed, a stream of liquid droplets from dispersed particles is formed. During storage, the emulsion may delaminate, which does not affect the quality of the drug. In this case, it is recommended to shake the contents of the vial.
The drug "Cameton", the instruction indicates, has an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect locally on the ENT organs. Racemic camphor irritates and disinfects the surface of the treated mucous membrane, enhances blood circulation. Levomenthol has sedative and vasodilating properties, a locally irritating effect, combined with a feeling of cold, moderate burning and slight tingling.
The component of chlorobutanol hemihydrate anesthetizes inflamed tissues, inhibits the inflammatory process, disinfects the mucous membrane.
Eucalyptus leaf oil stimulates the function of the upper respiratory tract receptors, has a moderate local effect as an antiseptic.
There is no data on the pharmacokinetics of the drug "Cameton". The instruction contains information that the above substances that are part of the emulsion are characterized by low absorption.
The doctor prescribes the medicine for inflammation of the ENT organs in the acute stage: for rhinitis, laryngitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and other ailments.
