The first directorial experience

In 1980, Rob Cohen made his debut film - the drama "A Small Circle of Friends." The eighties of the 20th century were a blessed time for the director and producer: he shot a fantasy film "The Witches of Eastwick", a fantastic action movie "Platoon of Monsters" and an action-packed fantasy with Arnold Schwarzenegger called "Running Man". Cohen worked on the film “The Serpent and the Rainbow” as an executive producer in tandem with director Wes Craven.

He shot the film Bird on the Wire alone, and the crime comedy Naprol along with Michael J. Fox, a Canadian director and producer.

Epic productions

Since the beginning of the nineties, Cohen began to be engaged only in directing, in 1993 he released the biographical action movie "Dragon: Bruce Lee", and then the adventure film "Heart of the Dragon". Among the director’s more recent work is Daylight, filmed in 1996, starring Sylvester Stallone, and the Skull thriller for teens with Paul Walker.

Successful projects

In 2001, the director shot The Fast and the Furious and the first part of Three X's. Both films were staged with the participation of actor Vin Diesel, who managed to bring both films to the category of commercially successful. “Fast and the Furious” turned out to be an incentive to create an entire series, which quickly scored six full-weight parts.

Stealth and Mummy

Thanks to this success, the director had the opportunity to access other large-budget film projects. But one of them - "Stealth" - was failed, the loss amounted to about seventy million dollars.

However, three years later, Rob Cohen, whose films already had his own audience, managed to rehabilitate himself by releasing the epic film Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which collected more than four hundred million dollars, and this is only in the United States. The sequel to The Mummy 2 was later filmed. And after some time, the shooting of the third part was completed.

The Mummy - continued

Recently, director Cohen announced his intention to continue shooting the famous epic "The Mummy", the third part of which has already been released. Now the next step is "Mummy 4". Rob Cohen has not yet decided on the choice of the main negative character: they may again become Rick O'Connell in the performance of Brendan Fraser.

The first two films were shot in Egypt, the third - in China. “We have proven that our Mummy can move,” Cohen said. “Perhaps the shooting of the fourth series will take place in Peru or Mexico, this has not yet been decided.”

In 2013, the director directed the thriller "I, Alex Cross", which tells of a fanatical policeman and a maniac whom alone could not be dealt with. And again failure, low ratings and insufficient box office. After this, Rob returned to work on the third part of the film "Three X's" with Vin Diesel in the title role. The popular actor ensured the success of the next series.
