The hemostatic sponge is a yellow plate, which has the smell of acetic acid. It has a corrugated surface and a porous structure, the thickness of such a sponge is from 5 to 9 mm. The hemostatic sponge is intended for topical use, it has an antiseptic and hemostatic effect, and also stimulates tissue repair. After the sponge is left in the wound or cavity, after a certain time, it completely dissolves.
When in contact with a bleeding wound, the hemostatic sponge causes adhesion and aggregation of platelets, so capillary-parenchymal bleeding quickly stops. The composition of this drug contains collagen, which is completely absorbed over 3-6 weeks, and therefore there is no need to remove this sponge from the wound. Collagen biodegradation products help stimulate wound repair processes, while wound healing is accelerated. Due to the content of boric acid and nitrofural in this preparation, there is both an antiseptic and antimicrobial effect.

Hemostatic sponge - method of application and dose
When removing the sponge from the packaging, it is necessary to observe aseptic rules so as not to cause contamination and bacteria. After this, the sponge is applied to the bleeding place, and it gently presses against it for 1-2 minutes, you can also use it to plug the specified place, which is then covered with a bandage. The blood-soaked sponge adheres tightly to the damaged area. If it is necessary to close the damage to the parenchymal organs or the bed of the gallbladder, then the sponge is placed in the damaged cavity. If bleeding continues, a second layer of sponge may be applied. Then the sponge is fixed using a U-shaped seam. The amount of this drug and its size depends on the size of the wound and the intensity of the bleeding.
