Strawberries are a very aromatic and tasty berry. She is slightly different from her fellow garden strawberry, not only in size, but also in taste. If you are lucky enough to gather this wild berry, cook strawberry jam. This unsurpassed delicacy turns out to be very unusual.
Strawberry jam is prepared in several ways. The main thing is that it turns out beautiful in color and retains all the aromas of the forest. First, take one kilogram of these berries and wash them very well. Since this forest strawberry is relatively small in size, some problems arise. To facilitate the process, take a colander and put strawberries in it. Then we lower it several times in a container of water and allow the liquid to drain. Processing and preliminary preparation of berries does not take much time in this case. It is only necessary before that to sort them out, removing garbage and leaves.
Wash the washed berries with sugar (about 1.5 kilograms). We leave them for a while so that the strawberries let the juice go. Then put the container on the fire and cook until syrup. At the same time, do not forget to stir occasionally so that the strawberry jam does not burn. After boiling, cook the syrup for 20 minutes. If foam appears, then it should be removed. At the end of the cooking process, add about 2 grams of citric acid or lemon juice. We spread the sweet treat on the banks and close the lids. Keep in a cool place.
The next method will take a little more of your time. To do this, you need one kilogram of strawberries. Berries are also sorted and washed. Then you need to prepare the syrup. We take one and a half glasses of water and mix it with one kilogram of granulated sugar. We cook the syrup when it boils and the sugar dissolves, pour it into the prepared strawberries. Then we cook strawberry jam for 5 minutes. Next, remove it from the heat and drain the syrup. We put it on fire and bring it to a boil again, while adding citric acid (2 grams). We spread the berries in the syrup and cook for another 5 minutes. After that, turn off the jam and after a few hours we lay it out on the banks.
Another way to make jam from these berries is also lengthy. To begin with, add one kilogram of this wild berry with the same amount of sugar. After that, leave the workpiece for several hours (8-9). After that, put the container on fire. After boiling, cook for 5 minutes. At the same time, gently mix the strawberry jam so as not to damage the berries. This procedure must be repeated about 4-5 times. Only in this case the berries will be whole and the final product will be beautiful. If a drop of syrup is thick and freezes quickly, then the jam is completely ready. After that, pour it into pre-prepared jars and close the lids. Strawberry jam is stored in a cool place.
Strawberries and strawberries are related plants. They are distinguished only by the place of growth. Therefore, if you do not have the opportunity to collect wild berries, then you can use garden strawberries. The cooking technology does not change from this.
Here's an example of making strawberry jam with rhubarb. We take half a kilogram of strawberries, the same amount of rhubarb, a kilogram of granulated sugar and one lemon. We prepare strawberries and cut each into four parts. We cut the rhubarb into small pieces, having previously cleaned it of the outer fibers. Leaves do not use, only the stems. Cut the lemon into small pieces. Mix all the ingredients and cover with sugar. Leave for 8 hours. Then put the container on the fire and cook until the contents become thick. We spread the jam on the banks and cork lids. Enjoy your tea party!
