Toenail fungus: treatment methods

According to scientists, more than half of the world's population has encountered such an ailment as a toenail fungus. This infection can be infected in public places (showers, gyms, swimming pools, baths) while walking barefoot. Many people repeatedly face a similar ailment.

In connection with the prevalence of this disease, many people have a problem: how to treat toenail fungus ?

You can get rid of the disease only by combining drug treatment with various folk remedies and observing a number of rules.

First, you need to dry your shoes and insoles well. The toenail fungus prefers a moist and warm environment, and wet shoes will only aggravate the disease. Therefore, it is necessary to dry the shoes well and ventilate the insoles. If possible, it should be changed (that is, have several pairs for one season).

When buying, it is better to choose products made of genuine leather and fabrics. If you create such conditions, the legs will become easier to breathe, which will slow the spread of the fungus.

When visiting the pool or the gym, it is imperative to wear reliable bathing slippers, which should be removed as rarely as possible. Thus, the risk of getting toenail fungus is minimized.

For the treatment of the disease, internal and external drugs with an antifungal effect are used. External funds include creams, ointments, peeling varnishes and plasters.

So, antifungal varnishes ("Batrofen") penetrate deep into the nail and its bed. Before applying the product, remove infected areas of the nail and degrease them with alcohol.

Patches and keratolytic creams allow you to remove the affected areas of the fungus of the nail. They include trichloroacetic or salicylic acid, antiseptics or antifungal components.

A keratolytic patch is applied to the affected nails, which is fixed with an ordinary adhesive plaster, and then bandaged. After three days, remove the damaged layer and repeat the procedure. The toenail fungus is treated in this way from nine to twelve months.

In pharmacies today you can find special treatment kits. For example, the drug "Mikospor", which contains a scraper, patch and keratolytic antifungal ointment.

Treatment is also carried out using topical creams (Terbizil, Lamisil, etc.), which contain the active substance terbinafine. These drugs must be applied every day to the affected areas. The duration of therapy is from three weeks to one and a half months.

If there is a fungus of toenails, external treatment is effective only in the initial stages. With extensive lesions, it is necessary to additionally take the drugs inside. Generally acting tablets and capsules stop the development of mycosis and significantly reduce the possibility of a relapse of a fungal disease. Medications are taken for two to three months, then a long break is made and repeated treatment is performed.

Common drugs for the treatment of fungus are based on ketoconazole, fluconazole, griseofulvin, terbinafine and itraconazole. The most effective and popular drugs are Orungal, Lamisil, Diflucan. The selection of medicines should be entrusted to the doctor.

Traditional methods that should be used in combination with traditional ones also help to treat nail fungus on the feet. Essential natural remedies are essential oils, apple cider vinegar, decoctions of herbs, from which rubbing and bathing are done daily until a positive result occurs. Before going to bed, you can make baths of table salt diluted in boiled water (take a tablespoon of salt per 1 liter of liquid). This substance is an effective means of eliminating fungus. After the procedure, wipe your feet dry.
