Meeting with Solar
To Eli Carnegie sends the daughter of Claudia Solara. But he gives the girl the most indifferent reception. But Carnegie himself manages to find out that the main character has a mysterious old leather book, which depicts a cross.
Only with battle Eli manages to leave the city and hide in the desert. Solara follows him. She promises to show him the place where the settlers get water. But at the same time, she sets one condition - he will have to take it with him after that. He agrees, but when Solara leads him to the source, deceives him and leaves her, claiming that together they are not on the way.
Pursuit Group
Meanwhile, Carnegie is gathering a group of fighters who are ready to pursue Eli. He seriously suspects that the book that the hero has with him is actually a weapon that can influence the minds of the desperate and weak. With it, it is possible to control people. Carnegie's chief assistant on this Redridge expedition. For his work, he demands to give him Solar.
Eli walks through the desert, Solara catches up with him. Together they get to the house where a couple of elderly cannibals live. There they are caught and the people of Carnegie. A shootout takes place, during which Eli is injured. Carnegie takes both Solara and the book from him.
The group sets off on the return trip, but in the car on the way the girl kills the driver. The car loses control and rolls over. She also incapacitates the second car, blowing it up with a grenade. Carnegie decides not to pursue Solara, since there is not enough fuel, and the main goal of the expedition is achieved - the book is in his hands.
Eli survives after being wounded, although his health is seriously shaken. Solara manages to find him, they continue their further journey together.
Heroes get to San Francisco, which is almost completely destroyed. Using the boat, they move to the island of Alcatraz. The remaining residents tell Eli and Solara that they have a printing press, and the library has many important books left - the works of Shakespeare, the volume of the Encyclopedia Britannica, the recordings of Wagner and Mozart, only one important book is missing - the Bible. Eli claims that he remembers it by heart, he asks to bring paper in order to write the text on it.
The Bible of Eli
At the same time, Carnegie opens the book that he took from Eli. It turns out that it is written in Braille. It is given to Claudius, but she pretends that she does not know and does not remember how to use it.
An attack is made on the Carnegie bar. He himself draws attention to the fact that the wound in the leg, which he received in a shootout with Eli, brings him serious suffering, infection began. Carnegie begins to suffer from a fever.
On the island of Alcatraz Eli, the text of the Bible dictates from memory. It turns out that he was blind, so his book is written in Braille. The book dictated by him is printed on the machine, the Bible is sent to the library, where it becomes available to everyone. When the path of the Bible ends, the path of Eli himself ends. He dies, grateful residents bury him on the island.
In the last frames of the movie “The Book of Eli”, Solara stands by the tombstone with his name. Her name is to stay on the island, but she refuses and sets off on her way home.
