Mann Manfred is a South African and British keyboard player that has sunk into the soul of many listeners of good music. As a child, I picked up the right rhythm and then goes with it. A light story of the composer's life, as well as his music.
early years
Mann Manfred (real name Michael Sepse Lover) was born in Johansburg, South Africa. A boy was brought up in a Jewish family of immigrants from Lithuania and did not know about poverty. His father, David Lubovitz, owned the publishing business, and his mother, Alma Cohen, was a famous pianist.
After school, the guy worked in his father's company. He entered the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied the features of classical music in all its glory. Often performed in Johannesburg clubs as a jazz pianist. In the late fifties he managed to record two general albums with his best friend Harry Miller.
The sixties in South Africa were distinguished by the popularization of apartheid. This was the main reason Michael first moved to the United States, and later to the UK. At the same time, Lubovitz Jr. wrote for Jazz News, coined the pseudonym Manfred Manne.
Music career
The entire professional path of the composer can be divided conditionally into three stages.
- Manfred Mann. Michael in one of the camps met keyboardist and drummer Mike Hagg. Together the guys formed a blues-jazz quintet and signed a contract with HMV Records. The impressive part of the compositions was an original arrangement of famous works. Among the author's most memorable Sha La La, Pretty Flamingo.
- Manfred Mann Chapter Three. The same composition, but a different name and thematic area. Experimental jazz-rock motifs were already present here.
- Manfred Mann's Earth Band. The previous project did not last long, but already in 1971, Mike created a new group. The regular participants were Sepse and Mick Rogers. Mann Manfredβs final albums were surprised specifically with a new sound and style: progressive, symphonic and hard rock.
So, Michael Sepse Lover can be called a kind of musical innovator. His work is successful combinations and melodic eccentricity.
