One of the greatest Russian actors of the late XX - early XXI centuries. - this is Oleg Yankovsky. He played about 100 roles in the movie, about the same in the theater. Films with the participation of the artist entered the classics of Russian and Soviet cinema, are repeatedly reviewed by the audience. The cause of the death of Oleg Yankovsky is quite predictable, but at the same time, the departure of his beloved actor was unexpected for everyone.
early years
Yankovsky Oleg Ivanovich was born in an evacuation in the Kazakh SSR in 1944. His father was a Pole and bore the name Yankovsky. In the Russian Empire, he was considered a guard officer, participated in the First World War, was seriously wounded while participating in the Brusilovsky breakthrough.
As expected, the former imperial officer was not easy to live in Soviet Russia. Yan Yankovsky was arrested twice and then released. When the Great Patriotic War began, the whole family moved to Dzhezkazgan and worked on a construction site.
Senior Jankowski has always been partial to art. They had a huge library at home, parents often took their children to the theater. That is why all three of the Yankovsky brothers became actors and honored cultural workers.
Oleg, from the age of 14, lived with his elder brother Rostislav in Minsk. There he first appeared on the stage as a teenager. However, closer to graduation, the younger Yankovsky returned to his mother in Saratov.
First movie experience
Actor Oleg Yankovsky did not immediately decide to choose the profession of an artist: at first he dreamed of being a football player, then he decided to enter the medical profession. As always, the case decided the fate of the future star of the screen.
For the sake of interest, Yankovsky went to the Saratov Theater School to inquire what it takes to become a university student. But after a short conversation with the director, the young man was enrolled in the course, and on September 1 he came to classes.
After graduating from the school, Yankovsky was accepted into the Saratov Theater. Once the troupe was on tour in Lviv. Director Oleg Basov saw Oleg in the hotel lobby and, evaluating the aristocratic external data of the artist, invited Heinrich Schwarzkopf to the role in his film “Shield and Sword”. The debut was successful, so in the same year Yankovsky was entrusted with the main role in the military film “Two Comrades Served”.
Despite the fact that the facial expressions and stage speech of Yankovsky were often criticized, he immediately became very popular on the screen. Each year, the artist starred in at least two films: in the 69th - “Wait for me, Anna” and “I am Francis Skorin”; in 70 - “White Earth”, “On Love”, etc.
Theatrical activity
But above all, Jankowski was a good theater actor. And to be such is more difficult than to turn into a movie star. There is no second take in the theater, and any performance is immediately shown “on the clean”.
The actor served in the Saratov Drama Theater until 1971, until he became a celebrity. At the beginning of the theatrical career, Oleg Ivanovich was entrusted with only episodic roles. However, he managed to participate in many performances: "Talents and fans", "Minion of fate", "Glass of water", "Man from the side" and others. Around the 70s, Yankovsky began to play the main roles. The most striking of them was the role of Prince Myshkin in the play "The Idiot" by Dostoevsky.
In 1973, after a series of successful movie roles, the artist was invited to the famous Lenkom, where he played until the end of his days. Over a long career, Yankovsky had the chance to play Arkady Burmin in The Guy from Our City, Hamlet in the play of the same name by Shakespeare, Trigorin in The Seagull and many other characters.
70s movies
Yankovsky Oleg Ivanovich is associated with many cult films of Soviet and Russian cinema.

In 1978, the director Emil Loteanu presented to the public his legendary film "My Tender and Tender Beast." And here Oleg Yankovsky was assigned a central character: the artist appeared before the public in the image of Sergei Petrovich Kamyshev.
In the same year, the equally famous painting by Mark Zakharov “An Ordinary Miracle” was released, where the already incredibly popular artist played the role of the Wizard-Teller. The cast of this tape was truly stellar: Alexander Abdulov, Andrey Mironov, Irina Kupchenko, Evgeny Leonov ... And this is not a complete list of Soviet celebrities who took part in the filming of this film.
80s movies
Oleg Yankovsky, films with the participation of which have long turned into the cultural heritage of Russia, played his most prominent roles in the 80s.
The decade began with “The Same Munchausen” by Mark Zakharov. This amazing picture, in many ways philosophical, has become the hallmark of the artist.
Then there was the role of the treacherous Jack Stapleton in “The Baskervilles Dog” by Igor Maslennikov, as well as the comedy of Sergei Mikaelian “In love with his own will”.
In 1982, Mark Zakharov again entrusted the main role to his beloved actor in the project “The House that Swift Built”, and Roman Balayan invited Yankovsky to star in the eccentric drama “Flying in a Dream and Waking.”
In 1984, the historical film “Two Hussars” was released, in which Yankovsky happened to play father and son at the same time.
For the role of Vasily Pozdnishev in the “Kreutzer Sonata”, the artist was awarded the prize. The Vasiliev brothers.
Then there was the drama "Kill the Dragon", in which Oleg Ivanovich got the difficult role of a villain, but this film can hardly be called successful. A new era has come in Russian cinema.
90s movies
No matter how talented Oleg Yankovsky, films of the 90s with his participation practically do not deserve attention. During this period, few decent things were filmed.
In 1990, the actor received "Nick" for the role of Boris Paris in the painting "Passport" by George Danelia. A year later, he was invited to the role of the last emperor of the Russian Empire in the film "Regicide".
In the late 90s, the melodrama "Paradise Apple" was often broadcast on television with the participation of Yankovsky, Natalya Gundareva, Olga Volkova and Evgeny Morgunov.
The era of failures in cinema ended with the movie “Chinese Service”, in which Sergey Nikonenko, Anna Samokhina, Vladimir Menshov and young Sergey Bezrukov took part.
The best works of recent years
In the 2000s, the artist had a chance to play in several worthy films. Firstly, together with Mikhail Agranovich, the artist shot a very moving melodrama "Come see me." The main roles in this project were played by the director himself, and with it, Irina Kupchenko and Ekaterina Vasilyeva.
In 2005, the artist played Victor Komarovsky in the film adaptation of Alexander Proshkin "Doctor Zhivago." In 2009, “Anna Karenina” by Sergei Solovyov was released. Oleg Yankovsky ended his career in this project.
The artist’s quotes from various films are often repeated by viewers in everyday life. However, Yankovsky’s motto in life is a replica from the movie “That Munchausen”: “Smile, gentlemen ... Smile ...”
Personal life
No matter how popular Oleg Yankovsky was, his personal life always remained under a veil of secrecy. While still a student, he married actress Lyudmila Zorina. This marriage lasted until the end of his days.
The cause of the death of Oleg Yankovsky is problems with the heart and pancreas. A year before his death, the actor was diagnosed with ischemic disease.
