Atopic dermatitis or diathesis is a skin manifestation of an allergy that is caused by toxins. This disease has an allergic nature, which in our not-so-ecologically βcleanβ time is not particularly and surprising.
Atopic dermatitis (translated from Greek - foreign to the skin) is a consequence of the genetic predisposition of the body to produce excess or excess immunoglobulin E. This occurs as a result of contact with allergens.
Atopic dermatitis (or allergic) usually begins during the first months of a person's life, often it continues into adulthood. In families with a tendency to allergic diseases, children get sick much more often. This allergic disease passes until the age of fifteen. However, if this does not happen, then it may well be that the disease has already passed into the chronic stage. Sometimes it leads to fungal, infectious and bactericidal complications, often the eyes become inflamed.
Doctors diagnose nine out of every thousand people - diathesis, or, as is often called in other words, atopic dermatitis, eczema. Its manifestations tend to vary from one person to another. The most common symptoms of atopic dermatitis are itching and dryness of the skin, rash, cracks in the skin of the face, legs and hands. The itching sensation is the most obvious sign of this disease, and scratches and cracks appear during scratching of the skin due to its rubbing.
Atopic dermatitis on the face occurs most often, and sometimes itching can suddenly begin, and rashes will appear later. Skin that is affected by eczema or diathesis appears red and dried.
Not so long ago, doctors believed that atopic dermatitis, the causes of which have not been fully identified, can be triggered by the emotional state of a person, but today it is already known for certain that stress cannot be the cause of this disease, however, it can aggravate this disease. According to doctors, this disease is associated with atopic disorders of the human body, such as asthma or hay fever. And although none of them can be caused by another, but they can very well be connected with each other.
The treatment of atopic dermatitis is primarily associated with the reduction and relief of itching and burning. Since the skin with this disease tends to dry out very much, first of all you need to use various creams that can relieve inflammation and moisturize the skin. Such creams and ointments act very effectively after a bath, in which various herbal decoctions can be added to normalize the hydro-lipid state of the skin.
Cold compresses and antihistamines are very helpful in reducing itching.
Relapses that occur with atopic dermatitis can, if not be prevented, then at least alleviated, if certain doctor's prescriptions are observed:
- moisturize the skin;
- avoid temperature extremes;
- avoid excessive sweating;
- Do not wear synthetic clothing;
- Do not eat foods that may cause irritation or allergies;
- do not touch clean hair;
- Do not use hygiene products that can cause allergies;
- do not be nervous.
Sometimes people suffering from atopic dermatitis are negatively affected even by chlorinated water, so for washing it is best to let it stand for a while. Still the patient needs to avoid any floor coverings which absorb dust, downy or feather pillows. Wash things of such a person about a sufficiently high temperature to completely destroy any germs, including dust mites.
And although all of the above will not be able to cure atopic dermatitis without the use of drugs, it is quite possible to alleviate the course of the disease and make the patient's life a little more joyful, free from constant burning itching.
