When Jason Peter Jay Garrick was just a kid, he read a lot of comic books about a superhero nicknamed Whirlwind. Did young Jay Garrick know that one day he would receive the same superpowers as his childhood hero, Whirlwind?
After a strange incident in the laboratory, Jason discovered that he had amazing abilities - he can move with superhuman speed. Dressed in a suit and a metal helmet like the one worn by the Roman god Mercury, Jay uses his powers to fight crime and protect the inhabitants of Keystone City. Now he is the Fastest Man in the world, the hero of Earth-2, Flash!
Creature
Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick, was coined by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert. His first appearance in the comic book took place in January 1940 on the pages of the Flash Comics series.
Origin
Jay Garrick attended Midwestern University at Keystone City. He specialized in the study of physics and chemistry, was a really big football star. During his third year of study, Jay conducted an experiment: he tried to clean hard water in a cyclotron without any residual radiation. Jay worked until late at night and gradually began to get tired. He sat down on a chair and lit a cigarette. But when he leaned back in his chair, accidentally knocked over the apparatus, releasing dangerous poisonous fumes. These couples disabled Jay. For many weeks he lay in bed in a state close to death. Shortly after waking up, Jay saw a girl in the window, Joan Williams, whom he had been in love with for some time. Craving for a meeting with her, he rushes along the stairs like other hurricane past other hospital patients. He later learned from doctors that his movement was the fastest ever encountered on Earth.
First thing
When Jay Garrick learned about his new abilities, he found them worthy of use on the football field. At this time, he also courted Joan Williams, and once witnessed an attempt on her. Jay deftly catches a bullet and thereby saves the girl's life.
Later, Jay finds out that this shot was only part of the Flawless Four scheme, designed to get to the girl's father in order to find out from him the whereabouts of the secret base of atomic warheads. Jay tracks down the refuge of the Flawless Four and rescues Father Joan.
Justice Society of America
Jay Garrick is one of the founders of the Justice Society of America (JSA). For several years he was chairman of the superhero team until he left it. The US government began to test JSA for communist activity. They asked members of the Society to reveal their identities, but they refused. Jay could not cope with all this distrust and ended his career as a superhero. He settled down, married his longtime girlfriend Joan Williams. Jay continues to work at the Chemical Corporation and will soon create his own laboratory in Keystone City. Ten years later, Jay returns to JSA.
Flash Evolution
Jay Garrick was the first of a series of heroes that we call Flasham. Appearing on the pages of magazines in 1940, he became one of the most beloved superheroes of the Golden Age of comics. However, after the Second World War, the popularity of superheroes fell, and in 1949 the comic book was closed, marking the last appearance of Garrick in the Golden Age. For ten years he did not appear on the pages of comics.
In 1956, Flash was restarted, marking the new, Silver Age of comics. The new hero was called Barry Allen. Like Jay Garrick, Barry got his superpowers as a result of an accident in the laboratory. Flash's first own release with Barry Allen comes out at number 105, continuing the original series.
After the heroic death of Allen, his nephew Kid Flash takes on the role of Flash. Wally West is the name of the third and final Flash, which appeared on the pages of comic books in 1986.
To date, the role of the main Flash again belongs to Barry Allen. He returned to the Flash post in 2009.
