Appearance
Yamamoto Genryusai is the oldest captain in the Soul Society. His eyes are black, his gray eyebrows and beard are unusually long. The whole body of the old man is decorated with rough strokes of scars, however, only two of them are the first thing that strikes the eye. They cross the forehead, united in a cross, literally shouting that the commander in chief has participated in countless battles. The battle with the traitor Aizen Sosuke robbed the old man of his left hand. His clothes are a universal form of shinigami, however, somewhat larger. Haori, the white part of the costume, is thrown over his shoulders. At first glance, Yamamomoto is just a fragile old man, but under the layers of clothing the commander-in-chief hides his muscular body. However, you can see him only in heavy battles, and even then not always.
Character
As the Commander-in-Chief of Goteya-13, Yamamoto Genryusai evokes a high degree of respect among his subordinates. The old man strictly adheres to the rules established in the Society of Souls, therefore he has every right to demand the same from other shinigami. Disobedience to those who are older in rank is unacceptable for him, so you can often hear how Yamamoto raises his voice to unscrupulous employees. If the commander-in-chief feels that one of the members of the Soul Society may be involved in betrayal, then he immediately enrages, adheres to an aggressive style in battle.
However, in peacetime, you can observe a different side of the old man's character. Yamamoto is so masterfully immersed in an aura of phlegmatism and tranquility that he can afford to fall asleep while waiting for the captains to a scheduled meeting. Years taught the old man to hide disappointment, not to show surprise. As a rule, answering any, even the most tricky questions, he opens only one eye, less often both, the rest of the time the commander in chief keeps them in a half-open state.
Biography
Many of the works contain chapters on the history of key characters. “Bleach” was no exception. Season 1 bypassed the commander in chief, but later on the author did not forget this character. About 2100 years before the beginning of the manga events, Yamamoto Genryusai maintained a martial arts school, where he taught all who deserve the art of owning a sword and reyatsu. Then in the Society of Souls there was no such organization as Gotei-13, but after 1000 years the old man founded it, taking the place of commander in chief.
Forces and abilities
Yamamoto Genryusai is not without reason considered one of the strongest characters in the work. He has the ability to fight with two shinigami who have reached the level of captain, while talking and holding the sword in just one hand. Amazing skills in the art of fencing do not leave opponents a chance, Yamamoto Genryusai is able to complete the battle with one powerful blow.
In addition, the old man is a master of quick tread. Its speed of movement reaches such a value that even an experienced fighter often loses sight of it. The long centuries of existence as a teacher, a good warrior, and later the commander in chief of a powerful and well-organized military organization, required Yamamoto great analytical skills. Knowledge of tactics and a developed mind helped the old man win with minimal losses.
The spiritual strength of the commander in chief, as expected, is also extremely high. Even an opponent of captain level is not always able to stand firm when Yamamoto releases her. Throughout the entire existence of the Society of Souls, no man was born whose spiritual power is capable of overshadowing Henryus.
Spirit sword
The weapon of the Commander-in-Chief is called "Ryugin Dzyakka" and is the oldest spiritual sword in the entire Soul Society. Its destructive fiery power delights and terrifies. At the time of liberation, a chic blade engulfs a flame, the heat of which can turn everything that it touches to ashes. The air around Yamamoto warms up so much that it begins to resemble a real firestorm. When he goes into the banaya stage, the abilities of the spiritual blade take on a different form. The flame created by the shikai returns to the sword, and that, in turn, gains the ability to incinerate everything that touches its blade. The moisture around the character during the action of the banaya begins to gradually evaporate.
The death of an old man
Sooner or later, a guest in black clothes visits each character - death. Yamamoto Genryusai worthily fought the invader, who invaded the Soul Society, and gave his life, protecting subordinates and Shinigami ideals. This outcome was a real shock for both the heroes of the manga and fans of the work of Taito Kubo, the author of the work. Heroes are admirable. The old man was buried as it should be to the commander-in-chief, and his exploits are never forgotten.
