Onion pie: recipes and cooking features

Recipes for onion cakes are different.   • flour - 250-300 g;
  • cream margarine - 150 g;
  • 3 eggs;
  • sour cream - 400 ml (including 4 tbsp.spoons in the dough, the rest is for pouring);
  • onions - 6-7 large heads;
  • Dutch or other cheese - 150 g;
  • ground nutmeg - 5-10 g;
  • baking powder - 1 packet;
  • vegetable oil;
  • a pinch of salt.
Classic Onion Pie

From flour, margarine, 4 tablespoons of sour cream and baking powder, prepare soft dough that does not stick to your hands. Peel the onion, cut into rings and fry in vegetable oil along with nutmeg, salt and add ground pepper to taste. The dough is rolled to the size of the mold, evenly put the fried onions on it and pour in the fill, which is made from eggs and the remaining sour cream. Then grate hard cheese and cover the surface of the pie. Bake in a hot oven for half an hour until golden brown.

Pissaladier - a variant of a pie with onions and anchovies

The name of the dish is intriguing, and the mention of anchovies suggests that this is one of the recipes for French onion pie. For the filling you will need:

  • 8 medium-sized onions and leeks (use the white part from 2 stems);
  • 1 can of canned anchovies (in oil), 2 large tomatoes, seedless olives (20 pieces);
  • 4 tbsp. tablespoons of vegetable oil (preferably olive);
  • greens;
  • salt, ground pepper.

Yeast dough is bought or prepared independently from 200 g of flour, 20 ml of vegetable oil, salt, 10 g of dry yeast and 150 ml of warm water.

The peeled onions are cut into cubes and fried over low heat for 10 minutes, then the stalks of leek chopped in half rings are added and fried for another 3 minutes. Finely chop the greens, peel the tomatoes, after soaking them in boiling water for 20-30 seconds. Greens and tomatoes cut into small slices are added to the onion, salted, sprinkled with pepper to taste, and stewed under a lid over low heat until the moisture evaporates.

French onion and anchovy pie

Roll out the dough in the form of a baking sheet, make the sides and put the cooled vegetable mixture on it. Anchovies are removed from the oil, the fillets are separated and the lattice is made. An olive is placed in the center of the squares. Bake for half an hour at a temperature of 180 degrees.

Puff pastry with onion

This option is suitable for young housewives who have not yet mastered the technology of cooking puff pastry or business women who combine work with housekeeping. Ready dough for onion pie recipe can be bought at the supermarket. For the filling you need:

Jellied Onion Pie

For the filling, the green onions are crushed and stewed in a small amount of oil in a pan. Salt is added to taste. Add 2 eggs to kefir, softened butter, flour, salt, baking powder and knead the dough. The consistency should be the same as for pancakes. The baking dish is greased, half the dough is poured, then the onions are laid out and the remaining beaten eggs are poured. Pour the second half of the dough onto the eggs and bake for 40 minutes in a hot oven.

Option of baking in a multicooker

Onion cake recipe is suitable for those who have a slow cooker with the option of baking.

For the test you will need:

  • 100 g butter;
  • 200 g of flour sifted through a sieve;
  • 0.5 teaspoon of soda;
  • 3 tablespoons of sour cream.

Soft dough is made from these products, put it in a multicooker bowl, greased with oil, form the sides and put in the cold for 1 hour.

For the filling, 4-5 bulbs are peeled, cut and fried in a pan until golden brown. Grate 100 g of cream cheese, chop a bunch of green onions and combine everything with three raw eggs. Fried onions are added to the mixture, beat with a fork and poured over the dough into the multicooker bowl, set to β€œbaking” mode, bake for 60 minutes. The finished cake is cooled in a bowl and carefully removed.
