Angina without fever. What is it?

All given accustomed that angina without temperature does not occur. So we looked into the mouth - and there are white raids on the tonsils! The temperature is normal. Or maybe it's still a sore throat without temperature? An experienced specialist can immediately understand what caused the plaque on the tonsils. We will try too.

Angina without fever is rare, since the causative agent of this disease is beta-hemolytic streptococcus or staphylococcus (much less often), which cause the onset of fever. In addition, symptoms such as redness of the throat, soreness when swallowing, joint pain, weakness, general malaise, and headaches appear. Angina without temperature is found mainly in the initial stages of the development of this disease, as well as with severe immunodeficiency of the body.

Carefully examine the tonsils: perhaps this is not a plaque, but only the remains of food (often kefir or yogurt). They will disappear if you drink a couple of sips of water. Injuries and burns of the oropharynx can also cause raids without a fever. However, in this case, a fibrinous deposit forms, which covers the wound surface. In chronic tonsillitis, there are โ€œpurulentโ€ or caseous plugs that can be mistaken for plaque with angina. They can also occur in healthy people. Pharyngomycosis, or fungal infection of the oropharynx, can occur without fever. With this disease, raids are similar to curd masses. Vincentโ€™s tonsillitis usually proceeds without significant changes in the general condition of the body, but local changes are very pathognomonic: a massive film forms on one side, if you remove it, a bleeding ulcer appears. With syphilis sore throat , the formation of a unilateral infiltrate is characteristic, in which the tonsil becomes denser, erosion forms, and regional lymphadenitis occurs. But pain and fever for tonsillitis with syphilis are not typical. The occurrence of aphthous stomatitis can be misleading. But do not forget that aphthae can be located on the inner surface of the cheeks or on the mucous membrane of the soft palate. The soreness in this case is very significant, especially when swallowing. Thus, we first determine whether it is a sore throat or not.

At the beginning of the disease, the superficial tissue of the tonsil is affected, swelling and redness occur. This stage most often occurs without temperature. Such a sore throat is called catarrhal. She is also characterized by sore and dry throat, swollen lymph nodes. Purulent tonsillitis without fever is a rarity. Almost always occurs only in people with deep immunosuppression.

If you are sure that you have a sore throat without fever - treatment should be started immediately. It is best not to self-medicate, but to consult an ENT doctor. He will prescribe antibiotics, since the main cause of angina is a bacterial infection. Mostly used are penicillins and cephalosporins. In addition to antibiotics, it is necessary to use other means in order to recover as soon as possible. There are a number of drugs in the form of aerosols specially designed for irrigation of the throat (inhalipt, kollustan, hexaspray), a number in the form of tablets (falimint, septolet, etc.). The treatment is often supplemented by gargling with solutions of potassium permanganate, furatsillina, soda, table salt (spoon on a glass of water), tincture of St. John's wort, sage, chamomile. Warming compresses are used: half-alcohol (1: 1 ratio). The first tissue layer is moistened with the prepared solution and applied under the jaw, then covered with plastic wrap, then with cotton and wool material. They put compresses every 2-3 hours, but you canโ€™t leave it overnight.

Be healthy!
