Leonid Nechaev began his career as a director with a picture entitled "Adventures in a city that does not exist." We are talking about a musical feature film, which tells about the joint adventures of the heroes of different books. The plot tells the story of the pioneer Slava Kurochkin. The boy is actively studying astronomy and physics, but does not engage in fiction at all. It so happens that he finds himself in a special city where the heroes of the most famous books live: Treasure Island, Les Miserables, Lonely Sail Whitens, Timur and His Team, Snow Queen. However, the boy has to meet not only positive characters, but also negative ones.
Another famous film directed by the film "The Adventures of Pinocchio." This is a musical film, consisting of two series. The film is based on the fairy tale The Golden Key by A. N. Tolstoy. The plot is familiar to children and parents. The boy, who was cut out of logs, gets acquainted with the poor dolls of the Karabas-Barabas Theater. To help friends, he has to uncover the secret of a special golden key, which was presented to him by the tortoise Tortila. The film had serious censorship problems. After the filming was completed, Belarusfilm refused to accept the musical, calling it "horror and an ugly picture." The film was released only because it was the end of the year, and failure to fulfill the plan could result in a loss of bonuses. There are several differences between the plot of the picture and the literary source. The golden key, which was shot in the film, was bought for himself by the director.
