The ink color, although it is secondary, that is, obtained by mixing the primary and secondary colors, while bright and saturated.
To apply such a tone instead of peremptory black or too energetic blue means to get unexpectedly deep and varied options for interior design, clothing, makeup. In this case, you need to know what color the ink color is combined with.
Warm or cold: ink puzzles
When choosing a particular color, we must first proceed from the effect it has on the psyche and mood of a person.
There are warm and cold options:
- warm color makes you worry, arouses emotions, forces you to act;
- cold tone gives peace and self-confidence, stabilizes emotional stress;
- mixed colors can have a double effect on human health and physical condition; they can have a cool and warm tone, can be neutral.
Ink color refers to the warm neutral gamut of mixed colors, and this must be taken into account when choosing ink tones for decorative purposes. Warm tones are always visually more, it suppresses cold colors and can neutralize mixed ones. This must be taken into account and equally choose shades, striving for harmony.

How to get ink color?
This original tone is always author's and it depends on the chosen option for mixing paints.
There are three ways to get an ink tone.
The first method, the most simple and standard. It consists in mixing the main blue paint with black in the required proportion.
For this:
- Spread blue paint on the palette with a spatula.
- Next put a little black.
- With a wide brush, pull the black paint drop by drop, mixing with the blue.
- Compare the result with the desired sample, if the ink is not saturated enough, add a little black.
- When diluted with water, the resulting sample loses saturation, this must be taken into account, add paint in the same proportions.
The ink color in the photo in a collage with shades of an electrician shows the mutual complement and cooling of warm dark blue tones. The picture looks spectacular and mysterious.
Contrast method
The second way to get ink involves using a color wheel (pictured above). This method is based on mixing the colors opposite to each other, in order to obtain the desired shade.
Ink from orange:
- Lay out blue paint on the palette as the basis for the future tone.
- Next to put an orange, which rather tends to an orange tint.
- Start brushing the orange color to blue, mixing very carefully.
- With the right ratio, you get a gorgeous warm color that gives a little velvety notes of black and brown.
Ink in design
There are many options to use a combination of ink color with other colors, for example in the interior.
The sofa was originally used in the photo in deep blue with all the shades of the nearby color wheel palette. The basic contrast, setting a refreshing and dynamic mood, is white with a splash of yellow and gray-brown.
Mixing analogs to create the right tone
The third way to get ink paint options is to mix the analog or close on the color wheel options.
For a beautiful and deep ink shade, try blending violet with the primary blue.
- Place a blue and purple spatula on the palette. Blue paint should be taken more than in the first two options.
- Add a little purple paint in blue, achieving the desired color.
- If you use acrylic paints, keep in mind that they will darken when dried. Paint over the sample. Wait until the surface is completely dry, this will be the real tone.
- In case the resulting color does not suit, add blue or purple until the desired tone is obtained on your palette.
This wonderful shade likes to use haute couture fashion, especially in the autumn-winter period.
The combination of ink with other colors
Warm and cool tones can soothe or have a stimulating effect. Derived from a mixture of cold blue plus red or orange, they produce deep purples, pale lavenders, and neutral inks.
The combination of purple with green and beige tones carries signs of both the warm and cool sides of the color wheel. Shades of green or turquoise, created as a result of mixing hot yellow and cold blue, give a soothing range.
Thoughtful color mixing and combination gives amazing effects in interior design.
The photo below shows a subtle combination of background ink with similar shades of gray-blue. This use of color in the interior allows you to focus on the details of the interior: a shod chandelier, a handmade table, soft leather armchairs draw attention. The interior carries a feeling of warmth and coziness.
In contrast to the above example, depending on the tasks that the designer sets for himself, adding turquoise and blue tones will bring coolness to the interior, but at the same time make it more natural, corresponding to the very spirit of nature.
Indeed, in nature, blue and green tones are not only symbolic, but also natural, they reflect the surrounding nature.
The photo below shows the interior, solved in cool colors using the ink color on the wall and in the decoration of furniture. Pale green cool shades of glass surfaces symbolize the air and water outside the window.
The interior harmoniously echoes the landscape outside the window, it seems that nature itself has settled in the living room.
An example of the diverse use of ink color complements the understanding of color symbolism.
Comparison and mixing of shades allows you to find out the relationship of harmonious, adjacent, contrasting or newly created complementary colors from a standard set of colors.
The flawless use of ink is determined by the degree of saturation, contrast with other colors, as well as the purpose of the artist.
