Konstantin Bryullov lived in an interesting time - in the heyday of art: painting, music, literature. He was born in the same year (1799) with A.S. Pushkin, met the poet when he lived in Moscow, and the artist was born in St. Petersburg.

The painter captured his famous and lesser known contemporaries on canvases for centuries. One of the artist's first portrait works was dedicated to the Kikins family. The image of the daughter of Peter Andreyevich Kikin was transferred by Bryullov to the canvas in 1819. The head of the family - a philanthropist who supported the artists, the painter wrote in 1821-1822. At the same time, he created a portrait of the adult Maria Ardalionovna Kikina, and a year earlier - in 1821 - painted Maria as a child.

Thanks to the fact that Karl Bryullov painted such a plan, we can see what his brother, S. F. Shchedrin, E. P. Gagarin (wife of the prince and diplomat E. P. Gagarin), her sons and daughter in childhood, was like, the Olenin couple and many people are contemporaries of the artist, including himself.

Karl Bryullov's painting “Italian Noon”: the history of creation, reviews of critics

In 1827, the great painter finished the painting "Italian noon." This was the second work dedicated to the beauties of this country. The first was created in 1823 and was called "Italian Morning."

The background to the creation of the second masterpiece is as follows. The first painting from this series was presented by the Society for the Encouragement of Artists to the wife of Nicholas 1. The Tsar wanted the painter to create a pair work for the first canvas. Then, in 1827, so did Karl Bryullov. The paintings were met by the public ambiguously. If the first one was answered rather flatteringly, then a lot of unflattering was said about the Italian Noon.

They criticized the model, which, according to art historians of that time, was not elegant. To which the author replied that such a purity of form is necessary for statues, which are supposed to be slim. In his own work, he painted a real, natural girl who often likes even more than statues, with his strict beauty.

Description of the canvas

And it is true. Charming corpulent, full of health girl attracts the eyes. It can be seen that she is very dexterous, easily climbed the stairs to pick up grapes. With one hand, the Italian holds a bunch of berries, the second leans on the stairs. On the elbow of her left hand, she has a basket where she puts ripe emerald clusters. The girl’s look is lively, he is full of joy, admiration not only because the berries were so beautiful that they were born. The girl is overwhelmed with feelings of love for nature, people, she enjoys the beautiful weather, looks through the transparent berries at the gentle sun.

Big eyes, a neat nose, a radiant smile make the girl's face irresistible. With such an appearance, she could be the wife of a noble person, live in abundance. But it’s clear that she’s fine and happy with everything. Karl Bryullov could convey this with the help of colors, reflections of the sun, the plot of which puts the viewer in a benevolent mood or makes you think, relive the tragic events of the past days, the main thing is that they do not leave you indifferent.

Through colors, he repelled the eruption of Vesuvius, which occurred in 79, which caused the death of many people and the destruction of the city. This picture is significant in that it was the first to which foreign art historians praised.

Karl Bryullov's painting “The Horsewoman” was written by him in 1832. The artist created this canvas at the request of Yu. P. Samoilova. At first there were assumptions that he depicted just her - the countess, but art critics proved - in the image of a horsewoman, her pupil Dzhovanin, which is why Karl Pavlovich himself called the painting "Dzhovanin on a horse." According to the main version, the girl was the niece of Samoilova’s second husband.

You can see how Giovanin is well-kept in the saddle in his beautiful clothes and is controlled by a black trotter who does not want to stand still.

A girl is looking admiringly at the girl, who is also eager to grow up as soon as possible in order to learn how to ride a horse equally famously. The artist painted the girl with her adopted daughter Samoilova, whose name was Amacilia.

These are the pictures created by Karl Pavlovich Bryullov. Of course, this is only a fraction of the paintings, the number of which is many dozens of works. But according to the presented one can judge what kind of master of his craft, an inspired person and creator was a great artist.
