The Chuvash Theater of Young Spectators in Cheboksary was founded in the capital city of the Republic. The theater in 1999 received the name of the Chuvash poet and public figure Mikhail Sespel. It is considered to be the date of its formation on 04/03/1933, since it was then that the performance “Young Layer” (in the original “Topay”) was first played on stage, led by directors Edwin Feuertag and Margarita Figner. They came from Leningrad and brought with them teachers and cast for the new theater.
Graduates of the Republican Music Theater College have become the future change of the generation of actors. All plays and performances were held in 2 languages: in Chuvash and Russian. The staging of the works on the stage of the theater took place not only based on folklore, by modern domestic writers, but also staged according to the works of foreign playwrights.
In the war years, the theater was suspended, and 2 years after the victory, he resumed his life.
Modern theater
Theater of Young Spectators Sespelia in Cheboksary conducts its activities in his hometown for about 15 days a year. And the rest of the time, the theater troupe toured the districts of the Chuvash Republic, as well as traveling outside its borders to other cities. For example, in the first 6 months of 2007 alone, the theater showed 55 works inside the republic and 19 in other cities.
The Youth Theater boasts performances in the amount of over 20 performances and plays. Since the theater is intended for children and youth, the main problems are raised about the relationship between children and parents, family values, the school season, love affairs, the existence of existence and death, and much more.
Theatrical composition
To date, the cast consists of 27 people, among whom are honored figures of the Russian Federation and people's artists of the Republic. The artistic director of the Cheboksary Youth Theater is Stanislav Vasiliev. Young actors are talented and have great expectations. The forces of the acting troupe take place important events within the walls of the theater. Applying their own forces, they wholeheartedly root for him. Thanks to them, the Youth Theater has a lot of achievements, there is something to be proud of in the Chuvash Republic.
Creative participation in festivals and achievements
Every year in the Republic of Chuvashia, a theatrical competition called "Chnturlch Charshav" (translated as "Patterned Curtain") is held, where the Youth Theater named after M.Sepsel takes an active part and receives various awards for stage achievements. The performances “Our Share Is Such” by E. Elliev (in 1992), “3 Sisters” by A.P. Chekhov (in 1996) and “Dogs” by K.K. Sergienko (in 2007) were recognized as the best productions of the Young Spectator Theater in Cheboksary.
The theater has repeatedly participated in various Russian festivals, and even in one foreign competition: in 2004 in Istanbul (Turkey) - “Istanbul Theater Space”.
A gift for the 85th anniversary of the theater
The Cheboksary Theater of the Young Spectator worked and created for many years without its own premises. Since the late 90s (and this is not a little 20 years) the theater group had to share the stage space with other artists of the House of Culture "Tractor tractor". Theater art requires a large territory and technical equipment: these are complex constructions for performances, equipment for light and sound, and much more. Some costumes, wigs, jewelry, shoes, dressing room, props - what are they worth? For this all, you need your own creative space.
But in December 2016, the republican administration made a fateful decision - to donate the building of the former cinema, which has the same name as the theater - “Sespel”. So, the theater of a young spectator in Cheboksary found his home. In the same room in the last days of May 2017, the 10th international film festival was held.
The actors were very excited and happy with their new acquisition, as they had long dreamed about it. The theater troupe began repairing its new home, immediately, as the decision of the Government of the Republic became known. In December 2016, literally in 10 days, they repaired, washed, cleaned the entire cinema. Although the building got into a difficult emergency condition, the artists put in order every corner, nooks, everything was done carefully with their own hands. Halls, foyer, dressing rooms, stage were updated - all in order to be able to create and give children all the best.
The appearance of vocal and choreographic children's clubs, as well as a theater studio, in which master classes will be taught by the actors of the theater of a young spectator in Cheboksary, are planned in Sespele.
