Cystic fibrosis is considered the most common disease of a genetic nature. This disease affects the lungs and digestive system, significantly complicating their functioning.
Thanks to the achievements of medicine, the life expectancy of patients has increased. At the same time, women who are diagnosed with cystic fibrosis are now able to conceive and give birth.
Mild or moderate manifestations of the disease before pregnancy, as a rule, have no effect on health. But severe cystic fibrosis is likely to cause complications in bearing a child. They are caused by impaired pulmonary function and other disorders associated with pathology. Throughout pregnancy, women experience shortness of breath due to intense cardiac work and a change in blood circulation.
In the prenatal period, it is important to continue to treat cystic fibrosis in order to maintain digestive and respiratory functions. With a lack of nutrition and oxygen, intrauterine development can slow down and premature birth can occur . It should be remembered that during pregnancy, some drugs are contraindicated.
Against the background of pancreatic damage in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis, there is a more frequent development of diabetes mellitus.
Fibrocystic mastopathy
This is a condition in which small tubercles and discomfort in the mammary glands of women are detected. The disease is very common and has a benign character. The disease develops most often in the period from thirty to fifty years. According to medical statistics, the disease is observed in more than sixty percent of women.
Diagnosing the condition can be complicated by the severity of the manifestations. So, for some patients, mild symptoms with minimal pain or sensitivity are characteristic. Manifestations are often noted in the premenstrual period. At the same time, during the examination (independent or medical), any changes in the mammary gland may not be noticed.
In other cases, this condition is accompanied by an increase in sensitivity, pain. On examination, a large number of nodules and tubercles can be detected.
Many women are predisposed to the development of these benign tumors.
Other terms are used for this disease, including concepts such as:
- breast dysplasia,
- diffuse fibrocystic mastopathy ,
- chronic cystic mastitis.
The definition of “benign tumor in the mammary gland” is also used, which includes other formations (benign) in this area.
To the cause of the development of pathology, experts attribute the combined process of hormonal cycles repeating every month, the accumulation of cells, fluids, foreign substances in the mammary gland. The beginning of the process is noted in the puberty, and its completion - during menopause. After its onset, the pathology gradually disappears.
As a rule, the disease is characteristic of both mammary glands. The defeat of one of them is rarely noted. In this case, a woman can feel her presence in one area mainly. Less affected mammary glands are susceptible to the development of benign neoplasms over time.
Previously, this pathology was called "fibrocystic disease." However, according to experts, the development of benign tumors in the mammary gland in this case is defined as a condition, not a disease. Thus, today in medical practice the definition "fibrocystic mastopathy" is more often used.
