Homemade lean bagels

Lenten bagels taste something like those made from puff pastry. They turn out very fragrant and crispy. And baking them does not require much time and effort.

Variant with soda

To prepare such a dessert, eggs, milk and butter are not needed. The test contains a minimum set of products, most of which every thrifty housewife always has. To bake lean bagels, check in advance whether you have at hand:

  • 100 milliliters of sparkling mineral water.
  • About 300 grams of wheat flour.
  • 100 milliliters of vegetable oil.
  • Salt, powdered sugar and thick jam.

Process description

A glass of sifted fine flour is poured into a deep bowl. A pinch of salt, vegetable oil and mineral sparkling water are also added there . All well knead until smooth.

The resulting soft, non-sticky dough is wrapped in plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator for half an hour. Thirty minutes later, it is laid out on a flat surface, sprinkled with flour, crushed and rolled into a rectangle. The resulting layer is folded in three and divided in half. Using the technology described below, you can relatively quickly make a delicious homemade dessert. Due to the fact that such lean bagels do not contain a single gram of milk or butter, even those who follow their figure can safely eat them. To make such baked goods you will need:

  • A glass of warm water.
  • 30 grams of pressed yeast.
  • A tablespoon of sugar.
  • 3 cups white wheat flour.
  • 100 milliliters of refined sunflower oil.
  • A glass of apple jam.
  • A pinch of salt.

Sequencing

Yeast is dissolved in warm water. Sugar and a pinch of salt are added there. All this is poured into a deep bowl, filled with half the available sifted flour. All mix well and combine with vegetable oil.

The resulting dough does not need to be left to approach. It rises in the process of kneading and cutting. Therefore, it is immediately laid out on a flat surface and divided into three approximately identical parts. Each piece is rolled into a circle with a thickness of not more than five millimeters and cut into eight sectors. A teaspoon of apple jam is placed on a wide edge, the sides are well fixed and rolled up into rolls.

Fast Yeast Option

This lean bagel recipe is as simple as possible. Therefore, it is easily mastered by a novice hostess who did not have experience with yeast dough. Before starting the process, be sure to have in your home all the required products. In this situation, you will need:

  • ΒΎ cups of warm water.
  • A couple of tablespoons of sugar.
  • 4 cups premium wheat flour.
  • A teaspoon of high-speed dry yeast.
  • 100 milliliters of refined vegetable oil.

All this is necessary for kneading the dough. To prepare the filling, you must additionally have in your kitchen:

  • 150 grams of halva.
  • ΒΌ cup raisins.
  • A tablespoon of sugar.
  • A pair of ripe apples.
  • Β½ cup any nuts.

Cooking algorithm

Yeast and half a glass of flour are poured into warm water. All mix and clean in a secluded warm place. After half an hour, the risen dough is combined with the remaining sifted flour, vegetable oil and sugar. All intensively knead until smooth. The resulting soft elastic dough is covered with a clean napkin and left to come.

In the meantime, you can do the cooking of three varieties of fillings. Washed and peeled apples are cut into small cubes and sprinkled with sugar. So that they do not darken, it is advisable to sprinkle with lemon juice.

To get the second filling, steamed raisins and any peeled nuts are passed through a meat grinder. Well, as a third filler, halva mashed with a fork will be used.
