The last part of the American sci-fi movie trilogy in the Matrix cyberpunk genre with the subtitle “Revolution” was released in 2003, it was preceded by the films “Matrix” (1999) and “Matrix: Reloaded” (2003). The films were filmed by directors, then still brothers Andrew and Larry Wachowski. In addition to the feature films mentioned, the Matrix media franchise includes the anime series Animatrix, a host of computer games and web comics. But even after 20 years after the premiere of the legendary science fiction, which had a strong influence on the development of the modern film industry, the public does not cease to worry about whether the sequel to the Matrix will be continued.
First reason
The colossal army of trilogy fans has no doubt whether there will be a sequel to the film The Matrix. They are firmly convinced of this, because in the episode of "Revolution", in their opinion, it contains a significant hint. In the final scene, the fortune teller Pythia said goodbye to the main character Neo that they would someday see each other. Cinema fans took her phrase as an assurance of the continuation of the story.
More sober-minded moviegoers rely on the trilogy producer Joel Silver, who in an interview asked a direct question about whether the sequel to The Matrix would be continued, replied that he considered it to be a finished work of art, but would love to shoot another film.
An interesting statement, given that Silver has already sold franchise rights for a considerable amount of $ 30 million. Because of this, an extraordinary situation develops, he will not be allowed to continue the story, however, this does not apply to spin-offs or reboots, that is, restarting the original part. In this case, the ex-producer will again be a significant figure on the set of the tape.

In 2016, in London, Keanu Reeves, who played the role of the cult character Neo, supposedly delighting fans, assuring the public that there is no doubt whether the sequel to The Matrix will be continued. As if Wachowski are preparing two whole scenarios for the fourth and fifth parts of the project. This, according to the actor, the directors told him in person. It was rumored that films would be shot using 3D technology. Lana and Lily Wachowski have already consulted with James Cameron on this subject, discussing all the advantages and disadvantages of technology. After so few doubts remained whether the continuation of “Matrix 4 and 5” would be something revolutionary, highly innovative, something that had not yet been done in the cinema. Moreover, Keanu Reeves himself promised the public to make every effort to, despite his age, meet the characteristics of his character. At the same time, the actor did not specify the timing of the creation of the films. But he said that he was ready to continue working on projects, provided that its creators would be Wachowski.
The actor’s agents, watching the emergence of a storm of discussion on the Internet, put forward an official refutation of the words of his ward. Referring to the fact that the bitter truth is better than a sweet lie, they claimed that Keanu Reeves was in London, but did not mention a word about the allegedly forthcoming continuation. According to the filmmaker, published on his Twitter page, this will not be a continuation or reboot, but a completely new analogy project, the idea of ​​which was not disclosed. The scriptwriter only emphasized that there would be no continuation of Neo’s story in the movie, another character would be at the head of the story.
The choice fell on Morpheus
So, the new film will be dedicated to the no less colorful character of the trilogy Morpheus. The creators decided not to pretend to be a “new version” of the 1999 picture, since it’s impossible to remove something better, and it’s not necessary. In the main role, it was allegedly decided to use the rising star Michael B. Jordan, who became widely known after participating in the films Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Chronicle, Creed: The Legacy of Rocky and Creed 2.
